I've just recently learned about this, and it sounds like a good forum game for us to ruin all our relationships here. Thoughts? |

Yes the WW1 Board game. @Char, Diplomacy is a board game that has each of the 7 players act as one of the European powers pre-WW1. Your goal is to control 18 of the 34 supply centers(named after important cities). To do that you must form alliances with other players and since there's only one winner, you must subsequently betray these people for your own gain at some point. Unlike most board games there's no chance involved, everything that occurs is the direct consequence of the players' actions. That's the basic premise of the game. |

The problem with Diplomacy is that it takes AGES to properly play, and there's no real external action going on, unless we play... uhm... Newstand I think is the name of the version where all communication must be public. It just doesn't seem to lend itself to being a forum game very well in my experience. |
