"Looks like I'm not the only one who had this idea." Katsuo remarked, walking out of the mist surrounding the bathing area, clad only in a towel covering his midsection from the waist down. He thought had been hearing familiar voices as he approached, and now that he could see a little better, he could tell Ashura and Hayate were here as well. At least, he thought it was Hayate, whoever it was had sunk beneath the water. Wow. And I thought she was alluring with her clothes on. His eyes immediately traveled over to Ashura, able to see clearly enough to tell she was naked. He only let his eyes linger for a short time though, and began getting into the water. Once he was beneath the water, he removed his towel as well, placing it on the ground nearby. Thankfully, the tattoo on his arm that helped him control his disguise was water-proof, so he didn't need to worry about getting it wet. He had heard most of Hayate's explanation as to why he had joined the Kairyoshi, which was basically the same story most had, and as he sunk a little deeper into the water, he looked over at Ashura, able to keep a relatively straight face despite the tantalizing view. "That's the Kid's story. What about yours, Ashura? We've both been here for awhile, but I think today is the first time we've ever spoken. What brought you here?" |

Tokyo - Kairyoshi Headquarters - Bath House Ashura Once Hayate realized that Ashura was present, he began to slink into the water. The young man likely lacked experience with women and this was a natural defense for him. His reaction prompted her to grin as she often did. Regardless, he explained his reasons for joining and truth be told, it was boring to her. Not only was his story generic, but it was so commonplace now that it had grown tired. She was more amused by his reactions than anything... each time he looked her way, his face would turn red and he'd slink farther into the water. Katsuo soon arrived and took a place as well before asking her why she had joined the Organization. "I thrive on combat. This is the surest way to get my fix," she explained in a matter-of-fact tone. "Besides... there are so many men here that I may have whenever I please, it leaves little for a woman such as myself to desire," she elaborated with a mischievous grin. "Look at him for example..." she began, gesturing toward Hayate. "He seems ready to explode and all I did was slip into some hot water." Covering her mouth with the back of her hand and laughing to herself, her eyes soon settled on Hayate again, her usual grin decorating her black lips. Tokyo - Inner City Nöhime Contrary to what she had expected, Ryuichi explained that it was seldom that he was busy and that a lot of his time was spent doing whatever it was that he wanted to do. Nöhime had been under the impression that he was a man of orders and while he was her superior, he still had to answer to someone. Regardless, it didn't change her opinion of him. Once he had finished his explanation, he looked to her sword, asking her where she had gotten it from. While it certainly wasn't a question one would typically hear, the uniqueness of her weapon likely raised his curiosity. "I purchased this from a vendor several years ago," she explained looking to her waist where it currently sat, bound by rope. "There was a story to go with it, but I've forgotten much of it," she exclaimed, blushing with embarrassment. "I don't have the best memory in the world, master," she exclaimed as she clasped her hands together on her lap. "Um, is there anything special about your weapon?" she questioned, feeling as though it was her turn now. |

"Pah!" Hayate finally had to come up for air, holding the towel on his head steady as he shook the water from his face. Upon catching sight of Ashura looking at him again, he flushed bright red once more and averted his eyes. Now he saw that Katsuo had joined them. "Ah, Katsuo-dono," he said awkwardly, hoping to alleviate his embarrassment. "What about you? Why did you join the Kairyoshi?" "Nope." Ryuichi answered simply. The odachi lay at rest in the crook of his arm, and he shifted it somewhat to lean it on his shoulder. He had never once completely let go of the weapon in the time they'd been together. "Just an old sword I swiped off a battlefield." He continued to eat, not making much of an effort to keep the conversation going. |

Looks like I might be the 3rd wheel here. Katsuo nodded his head as Ashura explained her reasons for joining the Kairyoshi. Neither reason really surprised him very much. Having seen how much she enjoyed slaughtering the Oni, hearing that she got off on fighting wasn't unexpected. Neither was the 2nd, judging by how he'd seen her act since this morning. "I see. Sounds like you've found heaven on earth then." he remarked, glancing at Hayate as Ashura set her sights on him again. She was right, the poor kid was clearly out of his element here. But she seemed to be enjoying watching him squirm. Likely in an attempt to distract himself, Hayate asked Katsuo why he had joined the Kairyoshi, and the Yagi rubbed his chin in thought for a second. What was the best way to answer that question? "I know more about Yokai than most. So this seemed as good a place to put my talents to use as any." he said, glancing at Ashura for a second then. "And like Ashura, I enjoy a good fight every now and then. As I'm sure you're now aware, Yokai can supply that in spades." |

Tokyo - Kairyoshi Headquarters - Bath House Ashura The question revolved around and came to Katsuo when Hayate asked him why he joined the Organisation. Ashura chuckled at his response before she began climbing out of the water. The mist in the area obscured the view of her body, but she wrapped herself in the towel anyway and started for the exit. As she passed by Hayate, she ran her fingertips over the top of his head and looked down at his with a smirk before leaving the bathing area. After putting her clothing back on and giving her hair an adjustment, she left the area; starting to a new destination. Tokyo - Inner City Nöhime Judging by his nonchalant reply and what seemed like an almost bored tone, the woman was starting to think that she had overused her welcome and grew more uncomfortable. "Um..." she began, handing the proprietor the money for the food they both ate. "I s-should probably go then," she stammered out, rising from her seat. "Thank you for your time, Master Takenaka," she exclaimed as she bid him farewell with a bow. Nöhime was quick to leave, feeling a sense of dread as it was likely that she had bored her superior into a stupor. He didn't seem thrilled by her presence and it left the woman to go over what she had done again and again in her head, her face flush with self-doubt as she scurried through the city, heading for the Headquarters. Once she arrived, she passed through the garden and went to the Combat Area, quickly tracking down a weapon rack and letting her eyes explore the options. She tried to get the thoughts of her screw up out of her mind and thinking about something as expansive as weaponry was the fastest way she thought to do it. |

When Ashura stood up, Hayate couldn't help looking again, and once more his eyes grew wide as dinner plates. Even with the mist obscuring part of it, the view was incredible. He shook his head--such indecent thoughts!--and used his own towel to cover his eyes. As Ashura passed him, she reached down and ran her fingertips over the top of his head. It sent a shiver down his spine, and sent all the blood rushing...somewhere. As Ashura left, the boy finally relaxed, heaving a deep breath. Balancing the still folded towel on his head again, he looked over at Katsuo sheepishly. "Ah...Ashura-dono is...certainly not shy." he said simply, his face still flushed. As Nohime hurried off in embarrassment, Ryuichi watched her go with a blank expression. He shrugged, and stood up to go himself. Time to find something else to do. As Nohime looked over the rack of weapons, someone spoke behind her. "S'cuse me. I need to use one of those, if ya don't mind." A young man with an enthusiastic smile stood behind her, dressed in a traditional white martial arts gi with a black belt. He reached for a pair of wooden nunchaku--being part of the training equipment, all the weapons on the rack were either made of wood or padded, to make sparring safer. Taking the weapon in hand, he gave it a few experimental swings, making the flailing end whistle through the air as it snapped around his body. Eventually he bounced it off his shoulder, down to the inside of his thigh, before giving it one last spin to let the momentum die before he caught it under his arm. "I don't suppose you're lookin' for a sparring partner, are ya?" He grinned. |

"I have the feeling Ashura is many things, and shy is definitely not one of them." Katsuo said in agreement as Ashura left the bathing area, giving them one hell of a view even with the mist obscuring much of it. She had teased Hayate yet again upon leaving, and the Yagi could tell it had flustered the boy yet again. "Gotta say, I hate to watch her leave but I love to watch her go." Katsuo commented with a shrug as he settled back down into the water. Scrubbing a hand through his white hair, he closed his eyes. "Don't let what happened today get to you, Kid. I'm sure most of the people here had a similar reaction the first time they had to fight for their lives. Just don't let it happen again. Or next time, you might not be lucky enough to get away with your head still attached." Edited by Fenrir, Dec 29 2013, 08:16 PM.

After Kaze had entered the combat area he found a secluded corner for himself to sit down and meditate for a bit. He remained in a relaxed sitting position, letting the tension leave his body and mind. He cleansed himself of anything negative he held mentally, which was a rather long process. It wasn't until he heard voices that he opened his eyes slowly. A young man and young woman were talking a bit, the young man was swinging about some nunchacku. A difficult weapon to wield, his memory drifted to all the times he smacked his forehead, or an elbow, and even his knee. He chuckled quietly to himself at the memory before slowly rising to his feet. He gave his legs a good stretch, making sure the circulation went around. "If you two spar I could be your referee." He called out. He glanced down and shifted his foot under the grip of his weapon before flicking it up to snatch from the ground. He'd have to find a better way of transporting it than just carrying it over his shoulder all the time. |

Tokyo - Kairyoshi Headquarters - Combat Area Nöhime Nöhime was soon interrupted by a voice from behind her; a polite man asking if he could retrieve a weapon from the rack. The young woman hurried stepped out of his way as he reached for a pair of nunchuku. When she looked, she recognized him as Master Tachibana, a subordinate of the man she had just had lunch with. He flailed the weapon about his body quickly before asking if she was looking for a sparring partner. Once he'd finished, a large man who'd been meditating in the corner, whom she recognized as another like herself, spoke up and offered to be the referee if they chose to do as proposed. "Um, I'm sorry, Master Tachibana, but I don't think I stand much of a chance against you," she exclaimed as she gave him a respectful bow. "P-perhaps Master Gufuu and yourself would like to instead?" she proposed. She had never been particularly confident in her swordsmanship despite her not being bad at it at all. Nöhime chose simply to fight via other means, using her sword only as a last resort. |

"Yes, sir!" Hayate placed his towel on a rock before he bowed to Katsuo, slamming his face into the pool like some kind of retarded water fowl. Then, he stood and wrapped his towel around his waist before walking to the edge of the bath and stepping out. "I'll go begin my training immediately!" he said to Katsuo with a big grin, before grabbing his clothes and heading inside. "Hm, maybe so! Whaddya say, Gufuu-san?" Shintaro Tachibana, of the eight captain, whirled his nunchaku as he looked towards the big man with the club. Against something like the kanabo, the little flail looked like a child's toy. But the way Shintaro handled it, throwing it this way and that around his body without ever striking himself, gave him an appearance of great confidence and skill. |

The tables had turned, making the mans eyes widen slightly. Instead of being referee he was being offered a spar in the woman's place. "I don't see why not, but I'll have to grab a different weapon. I'd rather not take the chance of seriously hurting you if I even do hit you, sir." Kaze said while bowing slightly. He knew his limitations, he was not a particularly agile fighter like the captain before him. He set his kanabo down reluctantly, he didn't like letting his preferred weapon go but it was needed. He reached into the weapon rack and pulled out a padded club about the same length as his kanabo. It felt so light and flimsy in comparison to the heavy iron. The displeasure of it showed on his face. He approached the sparring ring in the center of the dojo before giving the piece of wood a few light swings. His eyes cut to Tachibana before bowing respectfully. "Ready whenever you are, sir." He stated. |

Katsuo chuckled to himself as Hayate rushed off, eager to begin training. "Oh, to be young..." he said wryly as he stretched out beneath the water. Now that he was alone, he didn't have to worry as much about keeping to the level of modesty most humans went by. Sighing softly, he let himself doze off for a few minutes. Only for a few minutes though. Even if he didn't actually have anything to do, he couldn't really lay about in the bathhouse all day. So he soon opened his eyes again, and after checking to see if he was still alone, climbed out. He grabbed his towel, and after drying off, wrapped it around his waist again so he could walk back to where he had left his clothes. Once there, he put them back on, and left, deciding to see what else there was to be done today. |

"Sure, lemme just make an adjustment too." Shintaro said. He slipped a cloth cover over each end of the nunchaku and fastened them, to give the wood a little extra padding. Even if they were just wood, the nunchaku's nature as a blunt weapon meant it could still do some heavy damage without the padding. He held the weapon's shafts in each hand as he bowed to Kaze, then settled into a fighting stance. It was a little like a traditional stance, with one hand a little higher than the other, but instead of clenched fists, he held the nunchaku lightly. "Nee-chan, if you'd give the signal to start?" said the captain, referring to Nohime. He was grinning now, and had a wild light in his eyes. Edited by Onime No Ryu, Dec 30 2013, 11:53 AM.

Tokyo - Kairyoshi Headquarters - Combat Area Nöhime Nöhime was able to avoid the sparring session that was asked of her and in her place, Kaze would fight. Both warriors prepared their weapons for the skirmish; Shintaro wrapping the ends of his nunchuku in cloth to diminish their damage while Kaze went for a padded club, likely a much lighter version of the one he carried around almost non-stop. She was asked to signal when to begin and once both men looked to be ready, Nöhime signalled with a simple word "commence" before stepping back to give them room and observe... |

Kaze watched his current opponent with a calm eye. The captain settled into a fighting stance after bowing. The large man tapped his club against his thigh lightly while waiting for the young Nöhime to start them off. A simple commence and the round was started. At that word Kaze started to walk closer to the nunchaku wielder, leading with his armored arm and had his padded cudgel at the ready. He had the reach on the captain and he used it. He was several feet away from the man before slashing with the club. At three quarters of the swing he stopped and reversed direction, showing the finely tuned strength he had to stop a still rather heavy weapon from a full and wild swing. |

Shintaro stepped and leaned back just enough to be out of range as the club swung by, and the instant it passed him he flicked his lead wrist. The nunchaku's opposite end launched out of his other hand, gathering speed from the resistance of his grip similar to the techniques used by swordsman for quick draws from the sheath. With just that simple flick of the wrist, the nunchaku lashed out at lightning speed. Its own weight and momentum gave it force, and it struck at the hand holding Kaze's club with a sharp whap. If it hadn't been padded, the strike would have been capable of breaking the fragile bones. Following through, Shintaro let the nunchaku swing back towards his body, as if he were going to hit himself. But instead he gave it a spin, keeping it in front of his body on a parallel plane. When Kaze switched direction, the captain seemed startled, and backed off--but again, simply on reflexive habit, lashed out with the nunchaku aiming for the bigger man's hand. And again, he followed through with the motion and kept the nunchaku spinning parallel to his body. But he was still slightly off balance, and it was up to Kaze in these next few seconds before he completed his back step whether to advance or back off himself... Hayate, his body clean but his clothes still dirty--he'd have to go back to his old house and bring his belongings to the barracks--walked into the combat building and listened to the sounds of training going on in the different rooms. He began wandering around, looking at everything with eager curiosity. He wondered how he should begin his training... |

The single dull eye watched the captains movements as he avoided the first swing of the club. The thwack of cloth covered wood hitting flesh echoed around the room. A slight flinch in Kaze's face indicated he had felt it, and his grip on his weapon loosened a bit. The second whack seemed more like a reflex than anything, but the pain lancing up his arm was still there damn it. The large veteran tightened his grip, causing the wood beneath his fingers to creak slightly. Seasoned eye took note that the captain had put himself slightly off balance. He drew his arm back slightly and thrust the blunt weapon forward to help keep the captain off balance. A second quick thrust followed, and with a rolling flick of his wrist a horizontal strike snapped out. |

As Kaze advanced, Shintaro's back step turned a little more frantic, and though he stayed out of range of the thrust he was almost scrambling back now, in the manner of those who are about to fall back onto their behinds. After the second thrust, he actually did fall backwards, which luckily let the following horizontal strike pass over his head. But as soon as the captain hit the ground he instantly rolled and was on his feet, with such speed that for a moment he was just a white blur. But when he came up, his grin had grown wilder, and as the tail of hair on the back of his head lashed back and forth from all the movement, it gave him the appearance of a great wild cat ready to pounce. "You actually knocked me down!" he said, laughing. "I should probably get serious!" Then his eyes changed, and despite his words it was clear he was angry. Yet he stood where he was for a moment, gripping his nunchaku tightly...and suddenly he was off to Kaze's side, on the outside of the arm holding the club, and the nunchaku lashed out at the hand holding the weapon once more, then spun back to Shintaro before coming around again, this time at the elbow. The second strike, too, followed through with that swift spinning motion, and Shintaro caught it at his waist this time in order to let the nunchaku change its trajectory off his hand into a diagonal slash at Kaze's head. "Ooh!" said a quiet voice near Nohime. Hayate stood there with a shinai, a practice sword, dangling from one hand. "What footwork!" His eyes were shining as he observed the spar, one fist held up in front of him in excitement. |

Tokyo - Kairyoshi Headquarters - Combat Area Nöhime So far, both of the combatants seemed to be testing each other's skills. It didn't seem to be the case that both were putting much effort into it, but as it evolved, it could very well change. Nöhime was approached by someone she hadn't seen before. A young man wearing traditional clothing and carrying a practice sword. He commented on the fighters' footwork and seemed quite impressed. "Hello there," Nöhime began, give the new man an inviting smile and a bow to acknowledge his arrival. "I don't believe we've met! My name is Nöhime; it's a pleasure to meet you," she exclaimed, still wearing her smile. |

"Ah, the same to you, Nohime-dono!" Hayate threw himself into a low bow. "I am Akibayashi Hayate, and have only recently joined the Kairyoshi! Please treat me well!" Straightening up, he looked back towards the sparring match. He knew the big man from the encounter with the oni, but the other one, while familiar, he hadn't really met. "Is that one of the eight captains?" he asked Nohime, recognizing the man from earlier that morning. |
