Some comments on the comments: (just to satisfy your curiosity and get some things straight) Connor is not supposed to be a Sindarin name, it is supposed to be a Gondorian name. Connor is Boromir's squire, not an elf. Connor does not become a border guard in Lorien, I don't know where anyone got that crazy idea. He leaves Lorien at the end of the sequel. (Connor is a real person, he lives in Baltimore, and he asked me to write a story about him and lady elves, not lady humans or orcs, which was not meant for public consumption, but my beta talked me into sharing it.) In our Mirkwood Adventure storie, my writing partner, Malinorne, and I endeavored to pull Thranduil out of the slashy gutter and present him as a credible leading man in romantic fan fics. At the time we started writing about him, he was only presented as a slashy boy-elf rapist who beat Legolas regularly. We had a hard time convincing our first readers that Thranduil was actually a very nice, noble, compassionate elf lord. We just were not taken seriously, so we made him a little rough around the edges, to satisfy the narrow-minded, and eventually tamed him to be a credible leading man. No one had ever attempted a het pairing with Thranduil before we did, and I dare anyone to prove me wrong on that score. I write het only fics, and I will defend my right to pair boys and girls. Yes, I have read LACE, numerous times, and I think that anyone who thinks LACE is the equivalent of the Elves Holy Bible doesn't understand the origin of LACE, which was supposedly written by a human who had visited Valinor. However, even keeping that in mind, how many humans follow the 10 Commandments in the human Holy Bible? And how many elves in Tolkien's fiction behaved accordingly? Deeds of lust is what I write about, I know elves lusted more after the Silmarils than they did for each other, but I also don't believe that the boy elves preferred the boy elves in their bedrooms. |

We are certainally not telling you to start writing slash! PWP is bad enough!
It still doesn't seem very Middle earthian though...perhaps you could have used a different one? I'm sure he wouldn't have minded. Or you could have just changed the name when you posted it on the internet.
I hate to be mean but your Beta was wrong there. At least you could have changed it some before posting, set it with men or something. What you write privatly is your concern but once you post it on a public site it's going to disagree with some people.
Okay, I'll need the dates of your story first though. And I'm not entering somewhere like ofelvesandmen to find them. I've never read LACE so I can't comment on the content but I think elves were a lot more strong willed than us mortals. I'm certain they would almost never commit an act of rape for starters. I don't believe elves lusted after each other like mortals do. The only example of it is for Luthien and she's a bit above average. Therefore acts like in your story would not have occured. |

Oh no the writers have found us! Oh and Fishie is right, Conner sounds too modern for Middle-Earth. You could have used a different name when you posted it, the really Conner would know it was him but readers could have a Middle-Earth name. |

Great, now it's only time until Angey comes to whine at us.
But Connor isn't even a Gondorian name. Tolkien spent years working out the languages. Also, in the research I've done for names for "What the Heck? As It Should've Happened," Gondorians were familiar with Sindarin as well, so that argument is moot. I have to agree with HATI as well about your beta. I know it was written for a friend, but it should've stayed between you and your friend. Once you unleashed it unto the public, we had the right to comment on it.
Look, most of us can't stand slash so it's not the fact you wrote a het fic. It's the wet dream factor that we can't stand. |

You know, it's funny how sometimes the authors bring the criticism on their selves. Don't worry, Siany-T, she's made appearances on our fanfiction.net forum and pretty much just whines in incomprehesible English about how mean we are. |

Ah yes, that's always funny. Oh yes, all Angey does is whine about people been mean, can't structure a real argument about why we are ebing mean and how what we say is wrong (which actually is a lie, most of what we say about her is true). |

Well, I fear authors who want to whine here will have to register themselves though, following the new guest rule. PA as a member?! I'll give her one day, then I'll ban her for eternity. |

Ahh PA, she'd probably get too annoyed after a day anyway, she'd whine for a while then go. |
