Yes, that's true.
No. I can see her telling Aragorn that she doesn't care what her dad said, she was going to marry him--king or no king. |

So Gandalf is going to be Sam's therapist? Good grief. I would have thought one wouldn't have to go to Middle-Earth to receive psychiatric help. |

Hmm I wonder how the real Gandalf would feel at being turned into a therapist? I doubt he'd be impressed. Oh look a description of the dress that takes up as much room as anything remotly intresting. Oh and Sam can almost pass as elf, just in case that wasn't clear tehe. 'couldn't live her full life', I'm pretty sure everyone lives their full life. Now not everyone lives their full potential but that's not what she said. Stupid Suethor. Great MST as usual Mac. Cheer for House again. I liked his bit at the beginning about writing you all sick notes and stealing Wilson's pad. |

Gee, I wonder why? Gandalf the therapist. He's a great counsellor, just with things which don't matter much. Like destroying the Ring and such. Perhaps he should try healing Sues with suicidal tendencies, just because they are so speshul. Maybe I should make Sam meet this psychiatrist I know. He's an oddball but he's good. |

It's amazing. Sam had to go to Middle-earth to get the help she needed because regular Earth doesn't have such advancements in therapy. <_< Also, please keep all killing off this thread. The Sue does enough to herself. I do feel a bit bad. A family friend's son discovered his roommate dead and it looks like it might've been a suicide. Krillball should study the grief and horror to see how she is wrong on so many levels. |

Loved the chapter. Yes, I agree. I'd like to throw a few of my textbooks at her. How hard is it to do some research and not automatically assume you know everything? I did love the line: Mac: Oh my Jonas, she’s more annoying than Melody! And she was eight! Or five!     Those were my facial expressions.

The problem is that Sam's symptoms are so all over the place that a proper diagnosis is all but impossible. Yes, some aspects do sound like depression (accurately portrayed - give the Sue a point!). But there are also signs of paranoia and autism, her lack of emotional maturity is startling and she has a martyr complex a mile wide. She also speaks to Istari in baby-talk, a condition that I believe has not been adequately described thus far. Maybe she does need a therapist. But not Elrond, okay? Also, the portrayal of the parents with the grandfather's funeral was laughably logic-free wangst: there's no attempt at coherent characterisation at all. Sam's parents are just a collection of random plot devices designed to show her that Life Sucks. Not to mention ...
Alas! Looks like the ineptitude with the English language was genetic. |

Yeah, the funeral part was horrible. The grandfather was (obviously) the father of either Sam's mother or father, so I can't see absolutely any sense in the way they behave, I mean, they couldn't care less. The author didn't even try, or then she hasn't the barest idea as how ordinary people behave. |

Hoo boy. A horrible chapter but a great MST. Sam is a robot with things "programmed in her head". So, not only is Gandalf a therapist, he is also a software technician.* rolls eyes*
I agree on that account. But she loses it on account of giving Sam as many mental issues that she can think of.
Its not always about wanting or deserving to be happy. Misery is addictive. Nothing feels better than feeling bad for yourself, to be able to think that the world is constantly against you. That constant feeling of sadness acts like a drug. You begin to need it. But this is when you inflict it on yourself. Otherwise, there are enough reasons for depression- bipolar disorder, trauma, clinical depression...*stops psychobabble* |
