Waiting For Tomorrow

The grandfather was (obviously) the father of either Sam's mother or father, so I can't see absolutely any sense in the way they behave, I mean, they couldn't care less.

I could understand it if we were shown some lasting bitterness between the parents and the grandfather. Anger's fine, and it's happened often enough before. But in such cases, the most normal reaction seems to be to go to the funeral anyway and very pointedly not care in person. But what made this truly strange was that the news elicited no response at all. Come on guys, dad's dead: show me something. Grief, rage, joy, whimsy ... whatever. But if you want me to believe in you as capably-written characters, don't just sit in front of the TV shovelling food into your blank faces.

*Pretends to wipe eyes* Honestly that Sue's tragic backstory is making me want to cry from it's sheer annoyingness. She keeps getting more to wangst about. Oh and the parents thing? Laughable. Even children who are estranged often feel sad upon hearing of thier parent's death. And if their child was so close to the Grandfather then why exactly were the parents not? Stupid Suethor forgetting logic and not resaerching actully situations about depression, loss ect. It is honestly getting harder to feel sorry for this Sue in any way whatsoever.

Great MST though, I take it the mini-Aragog turned up in the theatre?
Merlin: Thank you.
Arthur: For what? For lying to my father to save your worthless hide? If you ever put me in that situation again, Merlin, I will clap you irons myself.

How hard is it to do some research and not automatically assume you know everything?

Hard. Especially if you are a teenager. I'm sure you know they all think they know everything and we don't have a clue.

Quote:

The problem is that Sam's symptoms are so all over the place that a proper diagnosis is all but impossible. Yes, some aspects do sound like depression (accurately portrayed - give the Sue a point!). But there are also signs of paranoia and autism, her lack of emotional maturity is startling and she has a martyr complex a mile wide. She also speaks to Istari in baby-talk, a condition that I believe has not been adequately described thus far. Maybe she does need a therapist. But not Elrond, okay?

I think Krillball suffers from the same problem that Angey does. It seems that when Angey comes across a new fandom she likes, she adds that to her stories--regardless of how it will mesh with the original fandom. For example, in An Elf's Love, we believe she read/saw Eragon and then suddenly a telepathic dragon shows up in Middle-earth despite the fact that dragons are evil and the last one was killed in The Hobbit. I think that Krillball reads or hears about new psychological problems and gives them to Sam to make her "sympathetic".

Quote:

Also, the portrayal of the parents with the grandfather's funeral was laughably logic-free wangst: there's no attempt at coherent characterisation at all. Sam's parents are just a collection of random plot devices designed to show her that Life Sucks.

I agree. My family is somewhat estranged from many of my grandfather's family members. However, when my grandmother died this past May, some came to the wake while others sent flowers. They acknowledged her death in some way. I also read a lot of Dear Abby (you can get some great story ideas off there--it's like my teacher's suggestion to go to an AA meeting only feeling less intrusive on someone's privacy) and a lot do write about estranged parents. But Siany was right with: "Even children who are estranged often feel sad upon hearing of thier parent's death" and Math's: "Come on guys, dad's dead: show me something. Grief, rage, joy, whimsy ... whatever" They often say they feel something. This is one of the reasons why I chose to MST this story beyond the Elrond's a pedophile! plot line.

Anyway:

Yeah. I realized sometime after I MST-ed "Sneaky SLytherins" that sinsrfun10 created a mini-Aragog. So I wrote this that the spider's been hanging out in the shadows of the theater.

Thanks! And the innuendos were ten times bad when I posted this last night as I was watching Lolita at the time.

Wait, if she had an easily breakable mirror in her room, why on Arda did she slit her wrists with a hairbrush?
Books contain knowledge. Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. Corruption is a crime. Crime never pays. So, if I keep reading, Im gonna go broke!

True, if she could punch a mirror, kinda believable, why use a hairbrush, unbelievable?

I don't think Krillball considered this until she thought, "Wouldn't it be kewl and dramatic if Sam punched a mirror?"

No - make her stop!

Yes I know I’m horrible at spelling/grammar…thank god for spell check or I don’t how anyone would be able to understand my writing .
Mac: She USES Spell Check?

News to me! Though even if the spelling was acceptable, the constant background hum of homonym abuse would still be setting my teeth on edge.

“Thanks” I looked down at my ‘hand’, “Oh crap! Look at that thing!” I poked at it with my other hand. I didn’t feel much, my hand had gone numb.

Yeah. So's my head.

I think the fact that while she uses Spell Check, it only checks to make sure you spelled the word right, not that you used it right. So "brake" is correctly spelled, but she really means "break."
