Yep, it was disgusting. And Kalan gets even more of the same in Isengard, fortunately not described in much detail. Guess what follows then? Angst, lots and lots of angst. No wonder this story got into the Worst of the Worst list in ff.net. Next time I spork something, I make sure it isn't like this. |

The oddest thing is that Kalan doesn't shrink from it. I don't know, but I'd think rape victims wouldn't enjoy being touched even lightly, at least not just after it. |

I really don't know, and I'm not sure if even Sylver-Star knows. Maybe she was like: "Hey, it would be like cool and stuff if Kalan got caught with the hobbits!" |

I'm sorry, but that just wasn't nongraphic rape. If she had left it at the noises, yes. But to have Merry and Pippin "see" it in their "mind's eye"? Yeah, no. Blah. Even the Stus get raped. |

Actually I, too, wondered that if this is nongraphic according to Sylver, what would graphic be like? Something like The Violation of Evenstar? And if the hobbits were supposed to be so naive, how could have they imagined what the Orcs did? How on earth Kalan was alive after over a hundred Orcs (according to Sylver) had "violated" him? Nah, too many questions, and we probably never get an answer. Edit: I had read only the warnings of the sequel when I said in the review thread of part 1 that the Orc part wouldn't be graphic. I got cheated, seemingly (as have all the other readers). |

A Stu version of VotE? Bad, bad, bad. Don't think on it too much Caranthol, you'll only get brainache and bad images. |

Oh sod. Turn away for a moment and another wangsty hurt/comfort fic pops up. *strikes Sylver-Star189's knuckles with ruler* Repeat after me: rape will NOT be used as a precursor for smoochies. Grrr. And I believe I've asked this before - but precisely where have Kalan's super-Stu powers of awesomeness gone? |

Hmm, maybe you should ask Sylver. It is very irritating that Kalan's "powers" change every other instant and when the "plot" requires, are nonexistent. After reading Chapter 2 I believe Sylver meant that they would be sort of reloadable (like a battery or something). Not that Sylver clearly states it anywhere and it's a stupid concept anyway. Remember the talk about darkness weakening him and stuff in the part one? I completely agree with you about the comfort thing. There are many chapters of Legolas holding him in his arms and Aragorn trying to heal him and such like. *start sarcasm* To Hell with the fate of Middle-Earth, the life of a Stu is more important! *end sarcasm* |

And yet, he's still considered to be a strong warrior, never mind the fact he spends all his time getting injured. *snort* |
