Why not? SHould be interesting. I'm going to name my computer so it's nicer.

Russian men in sci-fi are my new love. Chekov and that guy from Waters of Mars are the only two I know of but still...
Merlin: Thank you.
Arthur: For what? For lying to my father to save your worthless hide? If you ever put me in that situation again, Merlin, I will clap you irons myself.
Merlin, Series 2

David: Oh and John. My TARDIS... mine. Say sorry.
John: Sorry.

So, so far, Ammie Hawk:

You are the music while the music lasts--T.S. Eliot

"Stop the damn texting and pick up a book!"--Grandmama, "The Addams Family" (Musical)

"Tomorrow will be better for as long as America keeps alive the ideals of freedom and a better life." —Walt Disney

"I wake in the loneliness of sunrise
When the deep purple heaven turns blue
And start to pray
As I pray each day
That I’ll hear some word from you

I lie in the loneliness of evening
Looking out on a silver-flaked sea
And ask the moon
Oh how soon, how soon
Will my love come home to me"--"Loneliness of Evening," Cinderella

"Thank you, Lord
You have brought us
Safe to shore
Be our strength and protection ever more.

I think Ammie Hawk contains a rip-off from Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice.
I did it for my Junior Cert (Two years ago)

Junior Cert: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junior_Certificate

In the first chapter, it is said
Quote:

Not all that glitters is gold
.

However from The Merchant of Venice, I remember from my translation a line when Bassanio is trying to win Portia by choosing the right casket -there is a casket of gold, silver and lead and the lead one contains the picture of Portia-.

The line is all that glistens is not gold.

I would like to see whichever one done. I don't think I could do a MST though.
I am currently taking donations, for Everton FC. I am afraid that our chairman has forgotten to cough up. So if you could hand me a penny and I will dance for you :P.

I am the monkey and you hold the box, so be nice with that. I don't want to dance like that!

The author may not know she was using Shakespeare. "Not all that glitters is gold" is a common expression and was a line in a popular Smash Mouth song "All Star." Many things Shakespeare created has become part of our everyday language that we don't often realize we're quoting Shakespeare. I have an entire poster from the Globe that illustrates this point.

In short, it's not a rip-off. It's just an inclusion of an idiom Shakespeare created.

Thanks for the explanation Mac. I suppose being forced to do Shakespeare makes you see these things :P.

So, seriously, how do you write a MST?

No, I understand. I was studying theater myself when I wrote many of my early MSTs. So a few of them, namely Two Hearts, One Soul, got a lot of what I learned about melodrama dumped into riffs.

And I answered the MST question in another thread.

Thank you. -bows down to Mac-

Shakespeare is lovely -rolls eyes-. But what if you are not a funny sort of person or your funny is not common funny?

You'll just have to try. Do a one-shot first and see what happens. Just let the jokes happen. Don't try to cater to what you think we'll find funny. That's just a recipe for failure. No matter what happens, someone will find a riff that we like.
