Fanbrats; A thread for specific rants

I decided to start a thread for complaining about fanbrats. You see, today I got into an extended argument with a fanbrat known as Writers Block 420, who has written a Lord of the Rings fic with probably the most improbable summary I've ever seen:

Quote:

This is an Aragorn/OC story. Sorry to those Arwen lovers. The first few chapters follow the movies. Summary: Illuvatar was the creator of all, but what about the one that created him? Meet Ellieniel, Eru's "mother" she hold a vary big grudge against Sauron, and has been waiting ages for a certain ranger to finally exist. Aragorn/OC and Legolas/Arwen. I DO NOT OWN LORD OF THE RINGS,

Eru's mother. ERU'S MOTHER.

Even as I type it out now I'm pretty much speechless. This Suethor isn't even trying to hide the fact that her creation is a Mary Sue. She actually made her Sue related to GOD.

Apart from the horrific premise, the story is really nothing special--it's the usual plagiarism of the movie script with a tenth walker thrown in. But, I sent a review to the Suethor explaining why making a Sue related to Iluvatar was a bad idea.

This is the response she sent:

I have done my research. The Ainur are the Valar if you knew how to read you would know that. The Ainur became the Valar once they entered E. If your going to be horribly rude do not bother ever reviewing again and it is a FANfiction you can make it up is you wish. That is the point of having poetic licence. And if your going to make a claim, at least do your own RESEARCH and give a proper argument. And Gandalf, or OLORIN!! is a Maia. Learn your LOTR BACKGROUND, if you actually want me to consider actually listening to you. Thank you for being rude by the way, and your 'criticism' is not appreciated.
Ps. Never review again, and if you do, make sure your actually right because I have read the Silmarillion, Unfinished tales, LOTR, The Hobbit, and the Atlas of Middle-Earth. Read the first few pages of the Silmarillion and you'll find out about everything I just told you.
Now thank you very much. (Not likely)

Ordinarily I would have left her alone after this, but her decisions are mind-boggling. She's apparently read all Tolkien's work, yet she decided to plagiarize the movie script and create a toxic Mary Sue that breaks all Tolkien's rules of canon. Just...how do you read the Silmarillion and have the nerve to write something like this?

Anyway, I just thought I'd share this, since I think it's been a while since any of us has gotten into a good argument with a fanbrat.

By the way, anyone want to MST the story? Since it's pretty much just the script at this point, I'm not going to do the whole thing, although I might spork the background information on her Sue if she puts it in.

Jules, I don't think she read any of those. She just saw some quick guide, at best. Or gained "knowledge" from some fanfic. (I'd go as far to say she didn't even read a wiki article properly.) She obviously thinks that Ainur=Valar, when it's stated that both Valar and Maiar are the Ainur that came to earth. And she didn't address your complaint about Eru.
(And I'm not sure if it's said that Gandalf is a Maia in LotR. Appendices, perhaps. But I think it comes from the final part of The Silm. So "LOTR BACKGROUND" comment also falls in the water.)

Or maybe she skimmed through the books once and never looked at them again. Still not good.

I'd PM her back and point out all of the mistakes in her reply. Or, even better, leave the comment on the next chapter.

It's possible that she didn't read all that, and I think it would make sense.

Well, I already pointed out her mistakes in my last couple PMs, although by now the argument is more about her attitude rather than her canon errors.

We may have another Angey in the making, less the pictures.

Angey usually doesn't fight back--at least under her own name. I'm starting to suspect she might be using sock puppetry to drive up her review count on her Doctor Who stories because all her reviews tend to repeat the same sentiments over and over again. But usually it was her "fans" (ugh at the fact she has them, which makes the sock puppet idea a bit more appealing) who would then tells her to ignore the "haters" and she can do whatever she wanted with her stories.

Her main way to fight back is to just block you from reviewing. Though she now allows anonymous reviews, so you could still do so until she deleted them.

I was thinking more of the writing rather than the reactions thereto. Just reading all of Tolkien (I'm sure most of us here have read all or most of his Middle Earth material) doesn't mean one can mess around with the basic premises of his work. I'm surprised our Suethor didn't cite all those guidebooks put out by Iron Crown Enterprises some years back for their Middle-Earth Role Playing game... these had the blessing of the Tolkien estate but were not canon, of course.

If one wants to go with her premise, it would help to read Tolkien's non-Middle Earth material, plus C.S. Lewis (and I do not mean just The Chronicles of Narnia) and background information on the persistence of female spirituality in Christianity. J.G. Frazer is a good starting point for this last. But I have to concede that it takes a lot of reading to even be aware of this, and I can't expect the average Suethor to do research at that level.

Sometimes I am painfully aware that I have too much information for my own good!

And wasn't Eru basically non-gendered to begin with?
