For those who have never thought about it before, its amazing to say the least how much of the food we eat and take for granted has some kind of wheat product in it. A good example is today. Some friends invited us to McDonalds with them for lunch. My wife ordered the salad. All the dressings had some kind of wheat or gluten products in them. To eat, she had to literally take some regular yellow mustard packets, and some honey, and mix them together to have some kind of dressing on her salad. So, here is a limited list of products that should NOT be included in any recipes posted here. Please be aware that there are some substitutions out there, but before posting, please be sure of the ingredients you are using.

  • Soy sauce
  • Teriyaki sauce
  • most salad dressings
  • some ground meats (sausages, hot dogs, etc.)
  • dry powder seasonings (taco seasonings, bbq seasonings [unless home-made], etc.)
  • breakfast items (Malt-O-meal, dry cereals, quick oats, some regular oats)

This isnt an all inclusive list, however, some of the most interesting, and surprising things begin to come to light when you start really looking at what you eat.
