Ok, so heres the skinny. I have this habit, see. Its called taking on more tasks than what is probably normal for most folks. So in addition to creating this forum, I have been trying to get a computer that was given to me running. With me so far? Good. In stead of pirating my XP on this comp, I decided to do the moral, Christian thing, and find a free OS. I found Ubuntu, which is a distribution of Linux. Pretty easy to use, esp. if all your going to do is play music, or surf the web. Gaming is a different matter entirely. Thats ok though. This comp is in my kitchen, and so usually, Im too busy to play games. I use it to play music while Im cooking, or to find ideas for meals, etc. I also have it set up as a public computer, so that guests can check their emails, surf the web, etc. (It also makes a great conversation starter too!) Anyhow, if your still with me after all that, my problem is with this parental control program called Dans Guardian. I am a Christian, and I would prefer it that my guests didnt visit questionable sites. They can do that on their own computers. I am having a hard time setting it up. I dont know where I have gone wrong with the set up. If anyone knows anything about DG, Ubuntu, etc. please pm me. Perhaps we can get online on a chat client, or something and try to work out what Im doing wrong. Thanks for taking the time to read this! Revord |
