If I were to send in an action to train with a weapon and not use magic, should that count as a training action or a study action? Similarly, if I wanted to get a new magical ability for purposes other than combat, would that action be sent as training or studying? Edit: Thanks. It helps, but it's bad news for me. I've been planning actions. I had 11 trainings and 7 studies. Now I have 16 trainings and 2 studies.

Training with a weapon would be a training action. Training is to learn to do something such as learning a new technique or a form of martial arts for example. Getting the new magical ability would also be considered training. Studying is for when you need to learn about something, general knowledge that you can use later such as how to draw certain sigils. Hope that clears things up. Edited by Stangmar, Aug 15 2011, 06:34 PM.

Does placing runes on a ranged weapon provide bonuses to the ammo it fires? or just if you smack someone with it? |

If we wanted to make up a new technique or ability, in the "how you intend to accomplish this" section is it preferred that we come up with a fluffy way for the ability to happen (saying things about how we manipulate the mana to make it do what we want and looked inside ourselves), recite how we went about the feat fairly tediously (saying that we studied hard in the library and sought guidance from teachers) or a strange combination of the two?

Places runes on a weapon will grant the the weapon a bonus, in the case of ranged weapons it will depend on the ranged weapon. Something like a crossbow can have bolts that are enchanted giving you something akin to special ammo types. If you are dealing with a ranged weapon with non traditional ammo aka mana rifle or something similar, then simply adding runes to the weapon will give it the bonus. You do not have to enchant the ammo for normal ranged weapons but you will no receive as much of a bonus then if you were to. |

In the case of developing new techniques I think it is best to use a combination of the two, your powers are still dictated by some form of logic so therefore the more you understand about them the easier you can control and develop them. Your techniques are made through learning and understanding and then implementing what you've learned to try to accomplish something. If you have a concern about how to word it or are not sure how something you want could be accomplished, give me a pm. I'm more than happy to lend a hand when I have free time

Is there any way to interact with NPC characters and will you be introducing any teachers as NPCs to help students? |
