Akara leaned against the trunk of the Frozen Tree once more, overlooking the silent courtyard below. The moonlight illuminated the entire tree, the ice sparkling as the light reflected off of its surface. The pool below captured the entire scene perfectly, which only did more to add to the beauty of the scene. Akara clutched the amulet that hung off of his neck in his right hand, aware of the majesty of his surroundings but unable to free himself from his thoughts. The moon was full in the sky, as it had been on that fateful night so many years ago, when everything he had ever known or loved had been destroyed in but an instant. Not long after he had been accepted into Nullan Sagittis, where he had found a new purpose in life. Idly he wondered if any of the new students had similar stories, terrible truths that they would keep forever a secret from their newfound comrades. He could only hope that they would discover their own purpose while they attended this school, it would not do good for them to remain alone for eternity after all.

Akara didn't even need to move his eyes to know that the Headmaster had appeared on a parallel branch of the tree. Over the years he had grown accustomed to the old man sneaking up on him.

"You have another task for me then?" he said after a moment, glancing back in the direction of the Headmaster. "Or were you just trying to surprise me again."

The headmaster laughed. "Maybe both. You know as well as I do that the sooner we begin the lessons the better. I am aware that they only arrived earlier today and that you wish to give them time to get comfortable with their new surroundings, but you know as well as I that Nullan Sagittis is not invulnerable from the turmoil on the surface of the world. I fear that one day we of Nullan Sagittis may be dragged into the violence below and if that event is to occur- again - I wish that our students be ready. Preparations have been made for the first of the games and I wish that you announce it to the students tomorrow. I wish to gauge their reactions as well as begin their development."

Akara turned completely towards the Headmaster now.

"Something is afoot on the surface world then?"

The headmaster nodded slowly. Turning away from Akara as he began to make his exit. As the Headmaster merged with the darkness, his voice echoed through the night.

“It would be best if the younglings learned to use their powers quickly, lest they be consumed by the void.”

Warning: Slight timeskip from the frozen tree. This simply happens after the events of the first day, don't feel as if you can't keep RPING that first day in the threads.

The students gathered in the massive room that was the Crystal Hall. Akara had given them directions as they had eaten during the previous day. Today was to be their true initiation into Nullan Sagittis, the true beginning of their new lives as mages. The massive chamber was adorned in crystal depictions of mages long since deceased, heroes of their time and perhaps some of the most powerful mages to have ever lived. At front of the chamber hung two portraits, only one of which was currently visible, the other hidden behind the crowd of teachers that stood on the stage. The students quickly recognized the portrait that remained visible, which belong to none other then the current headmaster. A whisper passed through them as they tried to guess who the second portrait would display. The students stopped almost immediately as an old man raised his palm towards them, guessing that the old man would be filling in for the Headmaster during this presentation. Instead, a wave of shock and confusion passed through them as a face they recognized walked onto the stage, his white cloak and hair a clear indication of his identity. Some of the students even gasped as they saw some of the teachers bowing, stepping aside as a boy much like themselves took the stage... why did the teachers have such respect for him? Their answer was all too clear when the teachers began to separate in order to let the boy through.

The portrait was of Akara.

Before the students could talk about their discovery, Akara broke the silence. They would have to discover what this discovery meant at a later date.

"I would like to apologize for the absense of the Headmaster on such an occasion. He is a busy man, and there is much to be dealt with inside the school. This will be a short anouncement, as this is officially your first day here at Nullan Sagittis and there is much to be done. Preparations have begun for the first of the games that will be used to develop your skills, a bracketed tournament of battles in which you may compete in order to test your skills, with the added incentive of golden coins to the victors. That is all. Welcome to Nullan Sagittis, and the best of luck to you all."

OOC: The game has officially begun! (as have signups for the Trial Of Nullan Sagittis Tournament, which will be up tommorow.)
