Ok Im a dirty viking traitor, so call me Boromir. However I will not be leaving DDO for LOTRO, in fact Ive decided not to let an obsession with levelling an imaginary hero rule my life.... weird huh! Ok so what does LOTRO have that DDO doesnt ? Well it has a frickin huge world to wander round in and explore which is kind of cool. It has the role playing crew, which is kind of cute I guess. It is easy to level up or choose to expand your character as you see fit. If you wanted you could just make and sell things and live a peaceful life (after the first round of killing to get you past noob world that is). The "party up" aspect of it is less of a stress, unless you are playing an "instance", there are folks constantly around you and they can help you or watch you die Or even challenge you to battle. You get a house of your own and horse too, which is kind of cool. The guilds are not scaled depending on how well you are doing which removes a power gaming aspect. Store points are not as badly needed and are easier to come by. I guess in general LOTRO is more social and for want of a better term "easy going"However, DDO graphics make LOTRO graphics look like kids stuff. Although Keel insists to me the LOTRO water looks better, Im not much of a swimmer anyway. In fact in general DDO has cooler quests, more spectacular game play, better character development, instead of houses you have flying pirate ships and for someone who is somewhat of a power gamer I think DDO is pretty darned cool. So I will be continuing to play DDO for the awesome factor but when I feel like a few minutes of relaxing boar killing or finding a cool ornament for my house I will be playing LOTRO. -nuff said |

'bout as unbiased as a lawn bowl ;P but in all an accurate synopsis. still disagree with you on the graphics, but that's ok. as you said the lvling is easier but instead of a 20 lvl cap I think we are at 65 for f2p now so ya gotta remember that in ddo terms you really only made it to lvl 5 ish. stuff starts to happen round lvl 20(raid wize) then a bunch more cool stuff at 45(legendary skills) and 50-60 (legendary items) hella cool. i do miss the airship but the houses are much more customisable they make the airships look like cardboard cut-outs ;P I'm fine with the fact that you and others are stuck on ddo, it has a very distinct feel to it, but ya should at least try for lvl 35 (ddo's 12 ish ) before you decide its not for you. the depth of character customisation (look and build) and the depth of storyline are heaps less linear and wooden than ddo, making for what I believe is a much more variegated selection of quests and objectives. I'll stop by and look in on you from time to time I believe I've found what I was originally looking for in ddo. but It would be nice if some of the "vets" would do a Boots and drop by to check it out ;P (it means a lot to me that you had a look man) and I hope to see you and anyone else whos up for it, in the future ![]() miss questing with you fellas heaps. regaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrds keel |

Short answer. I can't play LOTR anyway. Long Answer. I can't play LOTR anyway. DDO is a bit tedious when you reach lev 20, same old quests over and over. I found a new game to play. It's called a second business. The beauty of it is, IT PAYS ME TO PLAY. WOOT !!!!! Giddy |

Maybe time for you to reincarnate gidds Bet you havent even played the newish f2p lordsmarch plaza quests ???? Theres some really nice gear there.I will keep playing both but I dont think LOTRO will ever amaze as much as DDO has the power to. It is however fun exploring the giant land that is LOTRO. |
