Some friends of mine (guys I do business with) here in Wisconsin have a BF2 clan with a server. I'll probably make a donation to them. The clan is Wisconsin Death Trip, their site is http://www.wisconsindeathtrip.org and to find their server just search the server list for Wisconsin. By the way, Wisconsin Death Trip is a book well known here. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...280638?v=glance Their clan started 6-7 years ago doing LAN parties and they regularly get together to drink and play games. Anyway, good server to play on with some good guys. Pellinore |

Hey, this is the forum where all the blaspheming is supposed to go on, right? No worries, not leaving RTK or RTW, just biding my time until BI is out.... |

As a lot of us are still playing BF2 as much as Rome, could we consider a BF2 sub branch of RTK? not to serious just add the Tag to our names and play a few minor tournies here and there.. what do you guys think? Flintoff |

Oh, I didn't know you can change your name... I don't think we'll be making any type of official sub-clan. I mean, we're not going to recruit anyone into RTK that only play BF2. But if you'd like, we can play as a clan. Although I think we'd get our butts handed to us... We could use a lot more practice to be even close to a competition level. Maybe I ought to learn how to fly something... <_< I'm liking the game enough the way it is. I would be interested in finding some competitive servers though, where everyone knows what they are doing. And where maybe not everyone is playing as special forces... Man, I swear every kit I pick up is special forces, and if not that, it's assault. At least with assault you get body armor! |

Trying to play competitively might be fun. We' need to become much more organised in our tactics and such though. I found a great tactical tool I'll be posting for you guys soon... |

I don't know about playing competitively yet, but I think it would be great to have a coordinated RTK squad. One with a good squad leader (we can rotate this), good communication, and members that compliment each other. What is the best squad? It is six maximum, right? So maybe: Assault Assault Medic Support Engineer Special Forces I don't think snipers really work well in squads and if we face tanks on foot we can always have someone spawn as AT. If we were coordinated and well-led we could really kick butt in some games. Even better if a seventh RTK is commander! Pellinore |

I dunno, I think it's best to spawn as engineer whenever you're going to drive a tank or APC. I always look for a tank or APC sitting idle before I spawn, I think it's worth it to spawn away from the squad to drive one of those in that case. You should be a much bigger help to the team in those if it would otherwise sit unused. And in cases where there is no tank or APC to take I think there are 2 different types of maps. For non-urban areas were there a lot of vehicles, my preferred squad would be: Anti-tank Anti-tank Medic Support Assault And either a 2nd medic or 2nd assault. 2 anti-tanks can turn APC's and tanks into deathtraps, and save a lot of friendly lives. Vehicles cause the most casualities by far. And since they can keep vehicles from getting close (or can destroy the ones that do, it should give the medics have an easier time reviving without getting killed themselves. Not to mention they stop helicopters from hovering to take points. For urban areas with few vehicles, my preferred squad would probably be: Medic Medic Support Assault Anti-tank Sniper Even here I wouldn't mind another anti-tank, especially for urban areas with helicopters. But either way, it's great to surprise a tank with 2 anti-tank kits and kill it quickly so those who got blasted by the tank can be revived. I would prefer to keep special forces for when we are near enemy structures. One spec ops and a support soldier would be all that is needed, since the C4 can then be resupplied as needed. Also, I'd like to see assault using their smoke canisters more often There's good amount of opportunities to use them, but you usually forget that you even have the smoke... I don't think I've even remembered to use smoke in a tank

I use my smoke grenades all the time for crossing streets and when theres a stalemate at a certain point. As soon as it goes off Ill see everyone come out of thier hiding spots and make a run for it. Its a habbit from playing call of duty alot since smoke grenades are vital for that game. I tend to find assault and medic the most useful in urban areas as theyre the most adaptable to long range and short range fighting. The m203 rules if you know which point will do the most damage and it will often scare off a heli thats hovering to capture a flag as theyll mistake it for an anti tank. If I run into a group of enemy infantry Ill shoot off my m203 right into the middle of them to stun them then switch quickly to automatic and start blasting . Spawning right at the front of the action is not always the best way to go I agree. I prefer spawning at a mid point and running flanking misssions or even capturing an unguarded enemy flag way at the back. If we do enter a competition I dont think any of us will genuinly expect to win it but it would be fun nonetheless. |

Good points here guys. Funny but were trying to decide what best makes up team just like in Rome. More than that though, later as we get better we need to learn how to move, deploy and attack in a coordinated fashion, ie flanking maneuvers, squad leader at the back so he'll stay alive so the team can all respawn, cover fire as we move, stuff like that. |

I've been pretty good with staying alive entire maps if I'm riding around in a tank. But many maps have tons of APC's and only maybe 1 tank, so in an APC, I'll often run into another APC that kills me. The APC's are only 2 hits from an anti-tank or APC rocket, so the first one to get a hit with the rocket usually wins. And it's usually hard to get away from an APC since the battle tend to be a closer range than with tanks, and you have to get away before the 2nd rocket comes, so you don't have much time. So if an Anti-tank person could be in the APC with me, then jump out and get a hit on the enemy APC, we'd win all 1 on 1 battles and be able to keep the APC alive for a long time. And I never like to try to take a control point unless I have infantry on the ground near me, or if the flag is more out in the open. So I've been instructing my squad to bail out of the APC whenever we get near any command point or another enemy tank or APC. It's been working out well when they actually listen <_< The infantry can keep anyone from sneaking up on me. It feels like I'm hunting duck and they are my hounds... They flush em out and I shoot em  |
