After playing Sid Mayer's Pirates! for some time  it finally seems I get the game correctly displayed in the status row. Cador kindly made a screenshot how he saw me on his xfire.![]() What you have to do: Open the file C:\Program Files\Xfire\xfire_games.ini in Notepad (should be associated with .ini files, so just double click) for editing. Then jump to the end of the file, and add the lines below.
This enabled me to use the ScrollLock + X chat window in BI, and receive/send messages as usual. The number in brackets obviously identifies the game for Xfire, I've accidentally set it to 4359 first, which was the number of Pirates! You should add the game under a new number to make this work correctly. 4659 looks unused.Note that neither the icon, nor the long name I specified was used  You'll have to save the game and restart Xfire for the changes to take effect. I hope it works for you too.

(That's what my miniprofile looked like.) BTW, the game is said to be supported by Xfire (although it didn't work for me previously); you might have it in your file already. So, check what is displayed in xfire when you play BI before changeing the games file, perhaps it would work for you without this  |

Moreover, the hours you play now might not show up after xfire comes out with their upgrade... |

Pirates! is a remake of an old computer game, Sid Meyer is a brilliant game designer. The original game was great, I used to play it on the C-64. Ofc, today it would be lame so they added new aspects. It was about your swashbuckling career on the Spanish Main, plundering cities, sinking ships and eventually receiving land and nobility from various Kings.. (for your services = plundering the cities of rival nations, a.k.a. nations where you already have the highest nobility rank, so you'll advance easier by sacking their cities than remaining loyal ) Then there are ofc the beautiful daughters of the governors.. And the ugly ones, but who cares, they know where the spanish treasure fleet is likely to be found  |

Yeah, I know the original game. I played it a lot on the NES back in the day. That's the reason I even considered the new Pirates! for PC. I had the old trick of keeping all the gold for myself by attacking a town that has a fort, but attacking by land. Then you can let all your men get die and you'll be left as the only member of your crew (without being thrown in jail or stranded on a deserted island. That'll teach those buggers to get restless. You can then go divide the plunder to yourself... 2 for me, 1 for me, 2 for me... |

Yea, that was an easy exploit. Even easier than getting a different Incan treasure for every family member you rescue. I bought the new game too, but it crashed all the time, so I brought it back. It had lovely cartoon graphics, a bit too childish perhaps The gameplay was extended with a few extras, eg. you have to dance with the governor's daughter, keeping up with the rythm of the music.Just realized that I have misspelled Meier
