Yes, Internet-based multiplayer mode is supported. Play epic battles online with your friends, with a maximum of 8 players commanding up to 38,880 soldiers!

Reply  Hosting with router issue resolved. Found ports to forward!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I searched but didn't find reliable info on ports when hosting with a router so I did some testing.
I used a TCP/UDP viewer to see which ports were used when hosting a game. As you may know some ports randomly change each time game starts and change as you go between Gamespy rooms, etc..
They don't matter at all for hosting.
3 never change.
6500(UDP); 26220(TCP&UDP); 13139(UDP)
Just forward those ports and you will not have to run a DMZ on your router and thereby open your PC up to external compromise potential. 6500 is the port that becomes active only when hosting I'm not even sure the other two are necessary but with all 3 forwarding your good to go.
I got tired of not being able to host and not finding the info I needed outside of running a DMZ.

After more testing it may be realized all 3 ports aren't necessary but I wanted to post this as soon as I got the info.
You should see less can't connect to host and actually be able to host games and have people be able to join.

P.S. ZoneAlarm caused me grief at times also with CTD's so I used Windows SP2 firewall and just add the RomeTotalWar program to the exclusion list. You can just disable ZA while playing if your behind a hardware firewall anyway.

Enjoy :D

Hope to see more hosting now

MadBoris

Well done m8.

In addition therefore these ports are required:

GS:

* 6667 (IRC)
* 3783 (Voice Chat Port)
* 27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
* 28900 (Master Server List Request)
* 29900 (GP Connection Manager)
* 29901 (GP Search Manager)
* 13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
* 6515 (Dplay UDP)
* 6500 (Query Port)

RTW:

26220 (TCP&UDP)
13139 (UDP)

To be safe I would enable TCP and UDP for Gamespy.

Mods can you sticky this please, this will prove most useful to alot of people.

OK, I got my copy of RTW today, the CD Key is in lower case on, no problems installing or entering the MP game lobby, already alot of peeps there.

Wolf_Kansuke.

(edit: removed port duplication)

The above ports work, ensure you also disable windows firewall, or allow access to RTW.

· 6667 (IRC)

· 3783 (Voice Chat Port)

· 27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)

· 28900 (Master Server List Request)

· 29900 (GP Connection Manager)

· 29901 (GP Search Manager)

· 13139 (Custom UDP Pings)

· 6515 (Dplay UDP)

· 6500 (Query Port)

· 26220 (Rome Toal War Port)

Ich habe dies getestet und es funktioniert mit meinem Netgear Router!
