Take these into considaration.: -Army wups ass (big battles hundres or thounsnads of dead.) -Empire building. (economy, science, religion, building and sutff.) -Game play. One more thing. This games. Age of Empires III (rate it. / How is it?) Ceaser V (rate it / how is it.?) |

don't bother with aoe iii. the original was excellent and the second was one of the best games ever, but they just added nothing new to this one. if you're really interested, try the demo first. also, get neverwinter nights 2! i'm having a blast with the game despite only being able to play 2 hours a week total; so much work.

I played AOEI a lot but even the second were the same (so ne great improvement). I liked CeasarIII a lot, played a lot; also played StartcraftI-II, WarcraftI-II a lot (but not warcraftIII ) but IMHO there is nothing like TW games!!!

I've played Company of Heroes a bit online and it is good and worth getting. It's more interesting than the bog standard RTS and has quite a few nice features, there's a demo about somewhere if you want to see. |

Ceaser V. Mate..its that one where to manage the city or empire itself. unfortunaly, the few piks and previews I've seen dont offer too much into it. Its like in the cover says stuff. LIKE manage the magnificent city of rome and blah...blah. Battle your wayout of barbarians (danm hordes) lOL and defend rome. ANd like you see in the piks, this Big Ol' city that you can construct. ...I mean really. Will I be able to have this wet dream of mines lmfao Of aving a game that satisfies both my battle and my genius for empire hunger and stuff.?? and will Ceaser V, satiffy that.? *What does it mean by* construct an empire or manage, or w/e *denfend rome and fend off barbs.* I mean, like I get to battle, a BIG whup ass, of a battle with many dead. or somehting like aoe or some other crapp ass game that "TRIES" to simulate a battle. *build and vast economy* now that I like. Money..!!! assistance plz.

Salute Vik! O.k., I'll date myself here. But, you can't go wrong with CIV4/Warlords. You could manage freckles if you want. Stronghold 2 is cool for strategy building different castles and such. Reminds of TW sieges. Personally, I like Axis & Allies Collectors thing. Historical war is a fav of mine. I love letting the Ruskies smash Germany while the U.K. bombs them back to the stone ages. If you like to drink lots and have some war friends the board game can't be beat. Yea, I'm old...... |

paradox interactive make simply the best strategy games, no tactical level tho Knights of Honour is one of the closet games to the tw series. A weak tw wannabe Napoleonic strategic/tactial game. not to the standard of tw.. but eh. not been keeping track of incoming releases so can't help you there, sry. |

The only game I know I want is Europa Univeralis III. It's been a long time since EU2 came out, and I still play that on occasion. It's due out at the end of January. EU2 was complicated for lots of people. You can play it many times and learn something new each time. Ton and Tons of replay value. So many countries to choose from, yet even picking the same country time after time can still be a very different game each time. The new EU3 is supposed to be easier to understand for newcomers, more intuitive, all the options "nested" instead of thrown at you. But it's still supposed to keep the depth of gameplay that I love ![]() http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/europa...siii/index.html
It has all of those things except you don't have battles like in MTW. The battles work themselves out as you play, no tactical battles. It could easily be a turn-based strategy like the Civilization and MTW games, but instead it's a Real-time Strategy (not at all like AOE3, but more like an empire board game) where days pass constantly and there's no "end turn" button. It's more realistic than those 2 games as well. Taking land and becoming a huge empire is no easy task. In MTW, once you get strong, there's nothing stopping you. In EU3, there's plenty of game mechanics that make being one of the big boys difficult. There's no micromanagement like civilization and other turn-based games. Everything choice you make is pretty significant for how you progress. It's very in-depth. There isn't as much "building" (which is more micromanagement most of the time), but the economy, religion, diplomacy/relations are much more involving and the AI is much smarter and relentless. Even if you are much more powerful than another nation and able to take all their land if you wanted, the game mechanics make it so that there are plenty of reason to not just go and take over the nation. It could end up hurting you.
I played AoE 2 a lot online. It was fun like all of those other RTS games like Command and Conquer, etc etc etc... but after a while, that gets old. It seems outdated to me. I think there are better games than that. I saw some very nice, realistic looking RTS games in that PC games thread. I have Caesar III. It's a pretty good game. I like those kinds of games, like sim city and other city building/management games. I don't know what C5 adds to the game... |

Dawn of Wars a really good game. Just finished up a really good 2v2 with another guy from lh on Dark Crusade. Gotta love Imperial Guards uber basilisk artillery The constant bombardment pisses the guys off so much they are so kind as to advance onto my fortified heavy weapons teams Anyway, tbh I'm a noob at it, but tbh its hard to see how yuo get "good" at RTSs...still they're good fun. Void, do you have any of the x-packs? DC changes the game totally, it limits the elite units to like one so you have to use a variety of stuff, much more interesting than deep striking a gazillion SM terminator squads into someones base a la vanilla dow. (I bought Winter Assault for the sole purpose of being able to play as IG on Dark Crusade mp, didn't really play WA itself...seems alot like dow though just with another faction) |

For first-person-shooters, I thought BF2142 doesn't look like much improvement over BF2. So kinda turned me away from it. So I'm looking at Quake Wars: ET when it comes out. I played the very old Wolfenstein: ET a lot (and it was available publicly for free). The new game has very similar style where one team is offense and the other defense, the objectives to complete, and the ability to push back the defense. |

Nah you would kick my ass, I'm a total noob, just play for a bit more relaxing play away from m2...but still rts...I really can't be doing with those horrible shootey game things I like IG too, a really good defensive team, setup heavy weapons team (defensively), pound em with art, forcing them to attack entrenched heavy weapons...who sit in front of baneblade (huge tank thing) and a leman russ tank or two Still finding it difficult to attack with though lol, since my main inf are the weapons teams, usually I just play team games and defend whilst lending support to ally on his attacks. wow...what a thread hijack  |

Cool, whats your GS ID that you use for it? ![]() On original dow I used to play 3v3s with guys from lh (this was when we stopped playing bi and was waiting for m2) and had decent stats. Stuggling in DC though, but now my mates got good as necrons which as long as you don't get rushed are pretty unbeatable in the right hands, so we just setup defenses early game and wait for him to tech up My gs id for dow dc is Ferret101 (heh, school nickname, don't ask) |

That's a pity, 2142 is much fun and has great improvements over bf2. I didn't really like it in the beginning either, but changed my mind about it. Graphics are better ofc, and the merging of classes means your soldier can do more stuff. Infantry is stonger compared to vehicles and especially aircraft have been made relatively weak with the improved guided missiles available for the engineer class. New objectives are available too with the titan maps, and the commander can be more useful to his team, being able to dispose of the nastiest enemy vehicles with a well aimed EMP + artillery combination. |
