Applications...do we know these people? Maybe we can poach them before you do. :ninja:

Pala is busy with life.

Depending on how it plays on our old comps will determine which people are playing I think. We've already lost a few to consoles.

Goldy and General still play RTW periodically.

Essentially our clan has dwindled down since that catastrophic M2TW. We have five people who still play actively, and another few who at least come to the forums. It will be neat to see if some of the oldies come out of the shadows when ETW is released.

PotBS is not bad at all, but you play that with a single ship using maneuvers and fancy abilities whereas you'll have a fleet in this game --- and by the looks you'll be just clicking them somewhere. Maybe there's more depth, but I didn't see anything in the footage I found somewhere.

Proper ingame footage ;)

Although the guy playing is clearly a complete noob you can get a pretty good idea of how sea batles will work.

Thanks for the footage..

I disagree with YM, the game speed looks good to me. However, the maneuverability of the ships is too good IMO, clearly for playability reasons. I'm hoping for a realism mod there. But anyways I'm happy the guy got his fictional american first rate sunk :D

BTW, here's for lolz from the same site

ntw2 looks better :/

I agree with Din. The POTBS battles are not bad at all. The footage that people see who don't play the game is probably footage of a couple of skirmish battles or battles between NPCS. Once you get into the full 24vs24 port battles, its a different game. Those are extremely fun and are somewhat representative of the large naval battles of old.

Someone said that it looks too slow. That may be true but we are talking about ship battles here. If I am not mistaken, it took the HMS Victory at least an hour to reach the French/Spanish lines at Trafalgar. The fact is that ship battles are slow and the game should be somewhat representative of real life ship battles.

at anyrate, I think most can agree this will be a much better game than MTW2

$20 for 6 extra units? don't turn this into the bullshit express. i mean straight talk express. that's way too much money for that kind of extra.

Actually, I quite liked the Alexander expansion. It actually had one of the hardest campaign modes I have ever played in any of the Total War games. The historical battles were excellent and the narration was leet.

I came home for the weekend to visit ailing relatives, so I'm not back at school until tomorrow night, depending on if you are not asleep in your race car bed with a thumb in your mouth and the other hand wrapped around a teddy bear with an incandescent hello kitty nightlight illuminating your room, we can play then :D

And you know I'll achievement whore, just like I did in silly games like L4D and TF2 before I stopped playing and they patched it with like 500 more achievements that beckoned me back to the game but I already quit my clan cause they're a bunch of tossers and kept getting banned on servers for allegedly teleporting through walls which is essentially a crouch jump, and any non-peonic ufftard would know that's not hacking.
