I dl'd the Vista 64 update package and something failed to install... not sure if it's the driver or the software, but something fails to load at start. I tried rolling back the drivers but it didnt' affect whatever it is that won't load at start. I googled the error message and the answer was that ATI sucked ass.... |

I'd be very much surprised if the CTDs had anything to do with ATI. To Merc's problem, some might say it's Vista that sucks, I've never had any problems installing ATI drivers on XP. If your screen isn't in a very low resolution when you start Windows, you do have a driver installed. To Thierry's problem, there definitely is something wrong with fleets. I get it too, although for me it was only 1 CTD, usually it just takes ages before they respond. Unfortunately, I also have occasional CTDs in battles. They always happened during deployment so far, before I actually selected a unit IIRC. Makes you wonder what the game looked like in February, when they wouldn't release it  |

Am Enjoying it so far, but have had issues with loading from autosave, lost 9 years of a campagne that way... Naval battles are a challenge but ships are a bit too flimsy for me (maybe i think everything should live as long as my WoW tank...), and raking is no where near as effective as it was in true battles. Also its really hard to capture ships (unless i just suck!) which is a shame, only managed to capture one pirate so far. Land battles seem to work well with cav woking wll against line, esp from rear and side. Not got into MP yet but may give it a go this week if anyone fancies a battle. Also made a mistake of trying to storm a breach with a cannon behind it, the canister decimated my seepoys... Also having real problems with cherooke Indians, there is just too many of the buggers, but hopefully my 10 fresh line regiments from london will put them down... First game to pull me away from wow for more than 2 days! thats an achievement in its own right! What are peoples general thoughts on MP so far? are we likely to get back to the good old Rome days? Love and hugs, Flint/Eddy |

it runs fine on vista 64 bit over here, i am still running on 8.12 drivers from ati i only update my drivers once in a while and only after i read trough tons of messages on forums regarding the new driver to find out if its buggy or not i only had a few random ctds, but it seems i am not the only one |

Flint!!!! bah... haven't seen you in months. I always imagine you in a body cast unable to type, whenever you're gone long... hah. Of course the game in MP has a variety of problems to fix before it can be a good competitive game. CA didn't provide any 3v3 maps, and only two 2v2 maps.... none of them are balanced.... So, we'll have to wait until the patch and /or modders get us what we need. |

Hard to take prizes in manual combat, autoresolve does give you some as well though. Got an admiral's 5th rate yesterday with mine and a few galleys, the only time the AI made me happy I fail consistently when boarding ships one class below mine that have fewer crewmen, but while boarding a sloop with a brig didn't work, boarding an indiaman with one did - got three of them in a single battle, yay! Never took a warship, I think I shouldn't keep shooting at them while they are boarded, makes them rout and blow up instead of surrender

Seems like there is issues with ATI cards. I have one of these myself. How do i find out what drivers I need and whether my Vista is 32bit or 64bit? |

Get the game first before worrying about your driver  Then just try running it on what you have already installed. It'll work. |

Managed to capture 2 Pirate Gallions today in 1 battle wich is good as they have more guns than anything i can currently build (4th rate atm) but lost my admirals 5th rate when a ship he was bording exploded as one of my brigs swung around and raked it. Was very funny to watch, just a shame my 5 star Admiral was on it! I'm more or less in one piece atm Merc, even training for a 1/2 marathon atm! |

I wasn't training specifically for the half marathon. My friend called me the day before and asked if i wanted to go. So i went lol I was training for the triathlon I have coming up in may. I ran 40mins straight 3 days a week. After the running I worked on strengthening my lower body with lunges, squats, hill climb and high intensity interval training. I also did a lot of core training. A lot of the pain had to do with the shoes I was wearing. I was wearing shoes for High arched feet and when i have a flat foot. BTW! god empire multi is full of noobs. Two games I played, host says no art, and they bring art. idiots. |

BTW. Microsoft's .NET framework is required, if it's not installed properly on your system, you may experience problems. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en As with all MS products, you may also experience problems if it is installed on your system.

I haven't lost a single game in MP...mind you I wouldn't playing randoms in any tw, but it just seems like they're even worse now. Example, a guy charged my mortars with cav only failing to realize there were stakes set up, and impaled half his unit. Durr. Two minutes later I see enemy general fallen, so I assume my mortars hit him. I look over and his ally impaled his general on his own stakes. They both quit, otherwise I would have made a video out of the replay. Later that day . . . I smoke a guy real bad. He claims that he is better at "head on battle" after I set up various skirmish traps that he so easily fell into. I forgot to screenshot it but this is the conversation that ensued. "Can you teach me to play like that?" "Like what?" "Gorilla" - exit - Donkey Kong tactic 101, put banana peels on the ground to make enemy lines slip. |

it's just that there are so many people who never played TW before who are just getting into it. stakes are pretty hard to see; i recall you running through a few. or maybe it's just because we play on the american server where people are dumb by their very nature.

I can't say I've never ran through stakes, it was just hilarious how it happened twice within 3 minutes. I think I ran through them in the forest where they are hard to see, this guy hit stakes in the middle of a field lol. |

Still do, just got my 2nd Level 80 this morning. I think i was just a bit TW'd out having played a lot of Rome, and also moving house, building a new pc ect ect last year meant i lost contact with a lot of people so started playing WoW with a mate of mine from RL, and even got the missus into it, she has a 75 warlock! IF god forbit anyone else does play WoW from time to time look up Urumqí (My prot Warrior) or Mortarion (my unholy Death Knight) on Wildhammer EU. ETW may not be as good as some of the previous but i have always had an interest in this period of history and all TW games have been shocking on release for MP! anyone still play BF2 or 2142? i may install one or the other if so as i fancy a bit online shooty action! |
