Hail Elrich, Lional and all the Knights who walk the Halls,

Just ordered a brand new rig which should run Shoggy 2 like a champ. Hope to see you guys out there on March 15. I'm super excited about this game. I actually feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

<bows>

Sincerely Paul

Yes, welcome back Paul! I'm afraid Elrich has wandered off into the sunset, but Lio is still around...I'll try to scare him up.

Would be great to share the battlefield with you and Marco.... :mtwcheers:

Thanks for the welcome gentlemen. My hopes are pretty high for this game already. Even ordered a new PC which I should be getting in a couple of weeks. One of the reasons I stopped playing was I was in high school going to college and broke. Couldn't afford a real PC to handle the newer titles properly. So its pretty nice to be able to drop $1k-$2k on a frivolous gaming rig .

Abascantus, when I joined I had no idea of what name to take so just used my real name. Even as a high schooler I really enjoyed Shakespeare and used the phonetic spelling of Exeter as Exidur from Henry V St. Crispins Day Speech since I had forgotten how to spell it and just decided to spell it phonetically. How do you spell your name?

"...Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester- " Henry V

Its quite a fitting quote in retrospect. BTW were talking 9-10 years back.

Lional we can change it up to

Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Rodney the King, Elrich and Exidur,
Cornwall and Lamorak, Gawain and Gareth-

This page has a tool about half way down on the left that is suppose to tell you if your system can handle STW2 or not and at what settings. Just put in your system specs in their respective fields.

Hmm bit dissapointed. Three your old rig with a reasoable spec by todays standards and im listed at low-med. Its the same crap engine they used for etw right?

Look around the marked CPU on this list ;)

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php...500+%40+3.16GHz

full list
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php

But if that requirements part from that system-checker site linked earlier is right, yours is over minimum specs Abs.

Well, it does get 1 star, which is a start! :D

Too bad it's also the end :joker:

But, I've been toying with the idea to get a newer one with a Phenom x6, which seems more affordable than new Intels. Just not too sure about Shogun 2. :ninja:

The specs are almost 1on1 of etw, if you can run ETW on low, STW2 will be smooth, just ask on the totalwar.com forums if you want confirmation, there a thread there i also used.

I'm not sure what CA could add that would create tremendous graphical overload..... and lets hope they've learned something about "lag" in multiplayer.

They can't really afford MP to be a RTW 1.0 style nightmare... this is their big new push into MP, the one they've never quite taken before. At least, that is the slogan.

but those who review computer games are quite aware of this "unprecedented" push into MP... the thing CA has never quite been able to achieve.

It'd be the height of stupidity if MP was skewered by a laggy, choppy game....

merc, let's not try to rationalize CA.

PC Gamer has already given STW2 92%.

ETW also has a metascore of 90. M2TW is 88. Reviews cannot be trusted.

That's just because you are not a true nerd Merc :D There are several things that they may have added just for looks. A more detailed skeleton (= more animated body parts) for soldiers & mounts, more forced dust (particles), more detailed textures, dropping support for old gfx shader models to name some of the major strains they may have put on CPUs & GPUs - maybe they even have new, "advanced" pathing and AI. It makes perfect sense: available gfx cards and CPUs have gained a huge performance boost again since ETW's release, and CA have a solid history of going for looks.

Height of stupidity, well lemme just remind you that NTW replays still didn't get saved for dropped games (one of the most useful MP features MTW2 had) ---- and NTW was a revision of ETW :D

Lol, stw2 on low will be like playing stw i think, the specs are even lower then etw :P Ask on those forums. I think they just optimised the ntw engine, so better performences on the same settings. Even the movies i seen werent that great, so maybe they choose gameplay above fancy grafix.
