Oddly enough, my bus driver from my tour last year told me Budapest has the best night life. Makes sense since the country is only awake at night. |

Budapest isn't in South America though, so you won't be coming here either. |

No, though I would eventually like to do a bus trip through the eastern half. I only went as far east as Vienna, which had the best food in Europe. And I am basing this off three meals, of course. But I'm really in the mood for rainforests and gun-toting cocaine-funded rebels. So South America sounds pretty sweet. I'm thinking something like Ecuador where I could go ride some turtles or go to Machu Pichu. Perhaps jump over to the Amazon and then jet over to Lake Titicaca. |

Yes, and you can put unbreathable air, poisonous vermin and disease on your list You could also consider disaster tourism, I hear Japan has interesting food

I would love to see Japan. In fact I had this tour picked out that I would see Japan, then dart over to Beijing and train through Tibet to Nepal. From Nepal go down to India and jet around until the noise and population density drove me away. Then this earthquake happened. Obviously I am not concerned about my trip plan being destroyed in light of what has happened there, but still. Japan has always been a place I have wanted to go. The Japanese will probably have that place looking spiffy again in no time. Their robots will get ###### going fast enough. |

Sounds like you've mentioned all the popular destinations. Cant speak from experience with regards to south america but a number of my friends said that Peru was a fantastic place to visit... My gf goes on and on about her travels across thailand, cambodia and vietnam. Alot of interesting history there, and ladyboys... so ud probably love it! |

Hah, yeah... and Chazz too... Thailand is crazy... the wild west. It's worth going just for the hours of massages at $10/hour. Boats, islands, jungles, elephants, Thai food, massages... crazy, mad nightclub and party zone areas of towns like few have ever imagined. And very nice, sane places to rest or tour... lots of temples (although I'm not too fond of Thai style temples). I had a friend who did a knolls course in patagonia a good while ago and raved about it... it's a survival course, essentially. A group of hikers cross patagonia. That would be an experience. |

My brother is currently on a trip going to Beijing, Thailand, and Vietnam. I think next year I will do the Asia thing and leave for a month or so. Problem is my work does its hiring during summer so it's not a great idea to leave for more than a week or so. Last year I missed out on a few jobs cause I was gone for a month. I think doing south-east Asia and then scooting to Beijing for this trip would be amazing: Ya Australia would be amazing but our summer is their winter...so all the cool water stuff would be milder

Just so much land to cover... is that 3k miles? 2.5? that's a lot of bus/train/go-cart/Ox/Lama. You might also think about Angkor Wat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angkor_Wat Would be an amazing trip indeed..... I've been to Thailand twice... once with a group of fellow teachers, and another time with my wife. I assure you all my massages were conventional thai massages... haha. But the nightlife is surreal, the beaches are great, the spas, the food.... hmmm, I want to go back. maybe a summer. |
