It's the phase shifting associated with quantum dot time displacement that makes bagging guys like Spiff very tough... :D

I can't even run ETW :P I still have the same comp, and only thing I play is M&B once in a while ...

I thought you just plugged that into your positronic crania.

If you can play MB, I would be surprised if STW2 was much of a difference. Several of us play MB, btw.... we could do some of that . Shogun has become a bit too addicting, atm.... hah.

Where are you? Last I remember, you were either post-docing in Canada, or heading to Turkey for mandatory service.

M&B has vastly lower sys requirements than STW2.

However, STW2 has lower reqs than ETW. With a very old PC (from MTW2 age), your main concern could be whether you have shader model 3 for the video card.

sys req according to Steam

Minimum:
OS: Windows 7 / Vista / XP
Processor: 2 GHz Intel Dual Core processor / 2.6 GHz Intel Single Core processor , or AMD equivalent (with SSE2)
Memory: 1GB RAM (XP), 2GB RAM (Vista / Windows7)
Graphics: 256 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card (shader model 3)
DirectX®: DirectX 9.0c
Hard Drive: 20GB free hard disk space
Screen Resolution: 1024x768

I first played STW2 with this:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (single core, not overclocked, 2.6GHz & SSE2)
RAM: 3 GB
Video: ATI Radeon HD3650 (512 MB card, supports shader model 3)

That's my MTW2 CPU and the video card is also quite obsolete. It worked OK in battles, though I played on lowest settings and loading screens took ages.

STW2 does have a demo BTW, you can find it on the bottom right of the game's Steam store page. The demo was more sluggish for me than the actual game, but you can try if your system can run STW2 for free. ;)

I'm still in Canada, working for the government, although this might change soon as it is not fun working for a gov whose science advisor believes in oil sands more than in evolution. There is hope that this will change after tomorrow's elections :)

and yes I made it through the military service safely, without accidentally shooting anybody!

I did try STW demo. It just didn't run. Froze during the intro movie..

That sucks, especially as it doesn't tell you if it's the game or just that silly 3rd party video they use. :yuk:

In any case, it's probably not a costly operation for the upgrade, but you should wait until Shogun drops in price, just out of principle... Best TW release since BI, but they gave us another beta. Still buggy.... the expansion will be amazing, I am sure, lol.

There are balance issues, but I'm amazed at the level of balanced achieved despite adding the unit leveling thing... everyone has a stable of veteran units that you upgrades in various ways with exp points. This dramatically increases the complexity of balance, and they did a good job with that. They have to fix the high money settings (or make it possible to eliminate them), and classic... so forth.

If you want to play some Mount and Blade... Kay, Ghaz, Tord... quite a few of us play that game. The CRPG mod is dangerously addictive....you have a 75% chance of damaging one or more of the fingers on your left hand playing that one. Play safe. :)

Still, I really don't play enough, and never tried it online. I enjoy the calm SP map part of the game..

BTW Merc, I don't know if you ever got my pm. My mail box seems to act strange.. Some messages get lost, some move around etc..

Check if your box isn't near full (90%+) and delete messages if needed. You can also save them before you do.

BTW, there's a co-op mode for the campaign for extra fun, as well as a competitive mode.

Hi Brenn, good to see you :)

Din, yes that could be it. When I look in the "sent messages" box, I see it is empty, which makes me wonder if the messages I send are not actually sent. I cleaned up the box, it is at 50% now.

i'll check out the co-op mode!
