I FINALLY MADE 1000 POSTS

Hi!
Okay, I'm looking into making graphics. I've never tried to before, banner's I've made have been paint, so I never use them...

So here's the question, what program should I buy? That's a really hard question since there are so many different kinds and versions. Is there a certain program for a certain thing? Is one easier to use than the other? I have soo many questions, but I dobn't want to ask to many.....

Sorry for asking such a hard question, but I have NO IDEA what I'm doing. I'll be eternally grateful for anyone who attempts to help me!! :glomp:

There are couple of softwares that I know graphic-makers usually use. Adobe Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. I use Photoshop CS3, I guess it's the latest version. Anyway, you can just google them and easily download the software you want. :)

My dad downloaded Photoshop through a P2P software, by the way.

There are a lot of good programs out there but I'd personally recomend one of the photoshop CS series. I myself have used 1,2, and I now use 3 and although each add that special shortcut or something they all offere you an amazing graphic making experience.

S.C. is right about the downloading also... I'd suggest going to adobe's website and look around... in the downloads you can even try a product for something like 30 days before deciding.

I have photoshop CS2 and Paint Shop Pro 8 and 9. All of them are great programs, but PSP is easier to get the hang of than photoshop. I'd go with Photoshop, but it's a lot more expensive, so if you aren't willing to put in the effort, PSP is about a thousand bucks cheaper, or at least it was where my dad bought it... Anyway yeah, but try the trial version if you aren't worried about cloging your internet connection.

I double-checked the thread but I couldn't find the answer (sorry if I'm blind and missed it xD), but, are we allowed to nominate the same story for more than one category?

Neigh, not a horse. A unicorn!

Can we nominate individual chapters from collab fics like 'Fantastic Staff' in the same way as one-shots?

  • i have photoshop elements 3, photoshop elements 5, and photoshop cs3, and i bought all of them -__-
i'm the most used to elements 5, and i've never used elements 3 . . . but obviously cs3 is the best. i've also used paint shop pro, which is what i started with. so, all of them are good (:

Damon is MY Man!

If the deadline is Feb 7, then what is happening with the wizards Choice award? Do we vote on what category we want then nominate stories???? If so, will that push the overall voting back?

INTJ ftw

I suppose the category will be selected by Feb. 7, then nominations will be accepted for the next week, then voting will be the NEXT week, meaning that only that award will be announced later than the others (around Feb. 21, hopefully). :) But since I'm not really the one who spear-headed this competition, don't hold me to that timeline. :cad:

I use gimp. Wahey! It's free and downloadable, and it's definitely a good start to graphic making until you get something a bit more professional.
