So my older daughter (who is 8) was telling me earlier about this cool "website" she goes to at school called MS Word, but she couldn't find the website on our desktop :lyn: . So I came upstairs, and put the shortcut to Word (see honey, that cute little Blue W is actually on our computer... not the web). Then I left her alone, and she then created her own newspaper, :elena78: . Now, first of all, I'm actually really impressed with her typing skills, but I thought she did a great job at grabbing the reader's attention as well. I cracked up at her using "alas", she almost used it appropriately, it just sounds so funny coming out of an 8 year old. Here are some pics of her masterpiece (btw... she made the newspaper for her dad).

That's my girl! :elena78: :elena78:

Oooh! Here's a video of the journalist reading her work (she got a tad bit silly, and the battery was dying on my camera so I was trying to speed her up... and I couldn't hide the occasional giggle)

ZOMG! *flail*

First, Katy is even MORE adorable in real, moving form than in her pictures. Second, that girl's gonna be a writer :P The newspaper is so cute! Mike will love it! And third... woah! I didn't imagine your voice sounding like that, Taryn :P

:huggle: :huggle: :huggle: :huggle: :huggle: :huggle: for you and Katy! (And Sarabeth, of course :tahi: )

INTJ ftw

omg yes! Encourage this journalistic streak from an early age and one day she too will be the editor of a newspaper created using more advanced programs than this web MS Word. :) I used to make little newspapers for fairy tale characters, handwritten of course, and look where I am now! ^_^

She's basically adorable. I love how she referenced Kit - I didn't know if anybody read those anymore! Oh and the love love from from makes my day. Wonderful logic working there.

WHY DID I NEVER SEE THIS?
because ali is terrible and never comes in here no more.
BUT I SEE IT NOW (10 days late) BUT BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.

so, first off, ZOMGOSHSQUEEILOVEKATY. she's so cute, and is such a budding writer. that newspaper was awesome, and the video made me want to hug her. but, alas (see, everyone says alas these days), i would be hugging my computer which is kinda an awkward shape to hug.

second - emahgawd! your voice is so not what i thought it'd be! i imagined it more...i dunno...different? (xD i can't explain myself)

thirdly - i first thought kit was someone in katy's class or something, but then marisa mentioned her so i shall ask who's kit?

INTJ ftw

She's an American Girl doll! Kit Kittredge on wiki. There's a series of books about how she lived through the depression and wrote newspapers and stuff like that. Oh geez, I remember when Josefina was new (11 years ago!!). Now they have like 10 new dolls.

My favorite was always Kirsten, though, with her long blond hair. ^_^

I've always loved Josephina! She's my favorite! I never liked many of the others. Well, Felicity was cool, and Samantha after that. I don't like the new ones - they scare me. :lyn: But I REALLY want to see this video! *glares at block* But it's still REALLY cute (through the pictures) and... squee! :elena:

Katy wants Samantha... she's my favorite, and Kirsten I love. We have the three made for TV AG movies saved on the DVR (Samantha, Felicity and Molly) and Mike took the girls to see Kitt in the theater. I love the books, they're great for getting young girls to read and they teach history as well. I'm not as crazy about the dolls of the year that they put out every year, and I must admit to being just a tad put off by the new one, Julie from 1974 being a "historical" figure... I was a year old in 1974, that just seems weird to me, lol.

Eeeek... I was just on the site and it looks like they'll be getting rid of Samantha soon... the girls are getting a Wii for Christmas so I wasn't going to do anything else big for them, but maybe I should go ahead and order her while I can. Bugger!
