Grah? I mean, if I have to get one in, might as well get all three in. Besides, I don't know really how long one run can last, since it's the first time I GM a Shadowrun game on a forum like this, especially a semi-freeform :\

Break time's over, though. I got Grunty who's probably making a character, and chances are strong it'll be some kind of combat mage.

This reminds me that I've still got to put descriptions for the spells and the gear and the weapons in the info section. Meh. I will, of course, start with the most complex spells, and finish with the simpler common objects like knives. After all, let's prioritize what you guys don't understand, neh?

Grah, I just got Grunt's character sheet. I'm in for some reading, but apparently he's a real deep mage. Some combat spells, yes, but a few others that are simply useful in many situations. He's also got two spirits, with one of them having three services owed.

That points out to high conjuring skills too, and I assume from it that this guy is also very good in ritual spellcasting, which means that you won't have to fear being kidnapped anymore -- Grunt's do-it-all mage will simply trace you with a lock of hair and send the whole team straight to where you are. Unless where you are also happens to be where a dragon is, in which case... nevermind. ;)

Well, I guess this kind of completes the balancing-out of the team. That's not to say I am not taking any more players, though. The party is slightly lacking in brute force and "tanking" (being the target without dying, heh), but that's alright. I can balance things out easily if it's needed.

So, I'll get to processing Grunt's character, and then I got some writing to do. My keyboard is going to do a lot of complaining today...

Heh, I wasn't sure if some things would fit in, but I guess (and am a little relieved) they were. If you need anything clarified and such, just send me a PM or IM and I'll try to explain it, or if necessary, change it slightly.

Is there still any chance to join this one? I don't see a character sheet, but if I remember right, this RP made my head explode with its complicatedness. I'd like to join though. Hopefully its been simplified a bit since RPH.

Yup. Sent you a PM. Yes, the rules can get complicated, which is why I made this semi-freeform. If you've got any character-related questions, just ask me. I try to take some time with each character to make sure everything is just right.

However, character creation can become very complex, even with all the simplifications I've made to it. That's especially true for magic-users or Technomancers, but many other character types can get complex. I guess the simplest characters to make, from what I've seen so far, are hackers, but I can't allow any more of these for now. Maybe we can go with three hackers once (if) we reach over ten players, but not before. Otherwise, the party won't be balanced and the missions will most likely be boring for either the hackers or the rest of the group.

I sent a character sheet for that crazy dwarf that manages to beat the living hell out of people. You know the guy from every story. Although thats all he can do, no magic, no special knowledge, no hacking, nothing. But he hurts, yes he does. So the tank is covered, although I'm pretty sure you need to save his rear end for him to actually agree to help you. That or lots and lots of threats.
And on an unrelated note, the weasels have successfully been caged.

good to know, usk.

Have you boxed up the flesh? I think that might have some power that comes with it, we could use it against some demons.

Or it might just get them preoccupied for a while while we dig the demons' brains out. You know, just a second plan helps. :grunttop:

Ok, I'm finally up-to-date on everyone's characters and the posts up until this point. So, do I need to wait until the GM makes an introductory post for me like for Destruction and Hoppy (they're the only ones who seem to have posted thus far, and also the only ones introduced, so I don't want to overstep myself), or can I just make my post?

What the hell? I take a break for one day, and all of a sudden I get two tanking characters thrown full-spin at me. Both of them are probably weighting well over 250 pounds each, too. *sigh*

Anyways, this made me realize that there's a little something that's wrong with my equipment and weapons lists. Namely, availability. Some of the equipment, weapons, cyberware and bioware are not available to starting characters, because they'd be easy to just buy up with a few BPs rather than having to find and earn them in-game.

One very good example here is Titanium Bone Lacing. It's got an AR (Availability Rating) of 15-R. Starting characters can only take gear/implants/weapons or whatever with an AR of 12 or lower. "R" means restricted, which means that in some cases you need a license, in others you need to be military, and in others you need to be working for the right corporation to get it. "F" is for those nasty things that are outright forbidden, and if you're seen or caught with them you're to be brought to justice, or something like that, depending on the situation.

One other thing to mention is Add-Ons. For instance, some people go for suits or armor with camo, or special heat-resistant or chemical-protection treatment. In those cases, the AR is *added* to the main item, which means that a Chameleon Suit with all treatments at maximum rating adds up to an AR of something like 32. AR also has an effect on item cost (offer and demand, heh), which means that such a suit would probably cost somewhere just over half a million credits.

Of course, this is all purely in technical rule-based terms. I've already made a few minor work-arounds or concessions, depending on the situation, such as in the case of destruction's Chameleon suit, for example. I'm willing to make other "concessions" of that same kind, but only when those particular aspects are well-justified and important to the character itself.

For the purposes of making things clear and easy-to-understand, I'll simply color-code items that are from 14 to 16 AR in orange, meaning that they're acceptable within reason for character-related purposes, and any above that in red.

So, I do realize half of this is superfluous, as I don't expect to have more than two or three more players at most from this point on (unless we have a sudden influx of new members on the forum, but then I'd need to take an assistant-GM because more than 11 players is too much for me to handle alone in any situation), but it can and probably will be useful for future reference. Beside, I might have to come back and re-use these lists in an unforeseen future. Heh.

EDIT: This took a while to type up, so I didn't see the two last posts.

In answer to your question, I should be making an introductory or at least a transitory post soon. As soon as that's done, you'll either start replying to the introductions I've made or introduce your character yourself through the situation, depending on how well things go when I write the post and how much time I have.

I expect to be able to make the post tomorrow, but if that doesn't work I still guarantee it to be done within the weekend. If that still doesn't work, then it's irrefutable proof that I need an assistant ;)

Anyways, to make it short, I only need to dampen my Armor Suit's capabilities, then?

In your case, Grunt, I've simply doubled the cost of the Armor Clothing. Technically speaking, it's just as if you had two sets of complementary clothes that you could wear together, with both of them combined giving you all those add-ons. Full suits like Chameleon or Full Body Armor can't be twinked around like that, though.

Ah, OK; I was merely making sure, but I'm glad I have those nice defensive add-ons to my armor clothing. I'll likely need them. :\

What about me, degrade my stuff?
Mainly I tried limiting how many implants and stuff.
Ummm, right, just degrade stuff I can't use.
Like the full body armor I just wanted some armor a helmet and the thermal damping.
The bone lacing just drop to whatever I can use.
The last thing to mention is that the reflexes are because his reflexes suck, so I wanted him to have some way to enhance that yet easily have it removed (cough hacking cough) Although that doesn't seem to be colored.
Drop the heavy machinegun and replace it by adding speed loaders to all my other guns.
That should cover everything that I got that wasn't allowed.

I'm posting a new thread here, named "JackPoint". JackPoint is the name of the "new" underground shadowrunner network meeting place that replaces the now-defunct ShadowLand BBS which was run by Captain Chaos. The old ShadowLand died during the 2064 crash, of course, since Captain Chaos went down gloriously while helping in the fight against the AI that was trying to take over the world -- virtually.

JackPoint is very tough to find, and even tougher to access. Don't even *think* about hacking it, as the best hackers (namely FastJack, reputedly *the* best hacker...) worldwide are constantly active there and everyone strictly enforces the rules. However, it's a real gold mine of information and data-sharing for shadowrunners around the world, and thousands check it each day.

As the game progresses, more and more stuff will be posted by *other* shadowrunners around with different subjects. You can also, if you want, post your own information or ask a question there. However, remember that the thread is still In-Character, so stick to yourselves. If you don't go in the Matrix, then you don't post on JackPoint and you don't know anything of what's being said there unless someone else told you.

Just a hint, too; Three names to watch out for: Sunshine, FastJack and The Smiling Bandit. Sunshine is a professional reporter who always goes down to the end of whatever's going on, even if it's not warranted, and always gets answers. He/she is also a shadowrunner on the side. FastJack is obvious, since he owns JackPoint and he's simply the best. The Smiling Bandit has a very good reputation, and he was very well known on the old ShadowLand. He's also got informational sources you wouldn't believe, and that info is right 99.9745% of the time. He's also an incredible hacker, to say the least.

Whatever, here goes. You'll find out the rest anyways.

Franker, if you didn't notice I gave you free reign to degrade my stuff to whatever I can use.
Secondly, I used a freaky random word generator and got NoncorrodingGulf, you can use that as a handle or something more creative, I can't to crap with fake names.
Finally, crap, my guy is going to be so lost when people start talking about Jackpoint >.<

I wrote it, he just has to demote the things that he said I couldn't have to things I can have, simple as that, since apparently some things weren't listed that were not allowed.
Has nothing to do with how long it takes for him to review yours.
