Well I just remember that when I first had to fix my character sheeet, I basically had to rewrite it because of all the stuff I needed to change.

Heh, just a detail to mention here. I'm taking a while to process both of you mainly because I'm also adding information to the Game Info section, preparing the JackPoint data, and trying to type up the rather large post that introduces everyone. I'm also occupied by school and clan matters, so even if I get 16 hours of free time per day on weekends, they get filled up pretty quickly.

I'm also going over hack and hoppy's characters, since their stat-sheets aren't completely filled out. For one thing, I haven't put in the finer points regarding commlink connections, programs, etc.

One other thing to mention. I assume that all elves know sperethiel fluently, and either have sperethiel or english as their primary language. Is there any elf out there who doesn't want to know sperethiel?

EDIT: Question for Dest; When you say "Blank's pheonsay", does that mean something along the lines of "girl that he's supposed to marry soon"? Like, fiancée? That one got me pondering for a while.

Ureweehreureurauerhuhrrrrgg! *bellow of pain*

Finally posted crimson's character too. Unless I have a major memory hole (which would be plausible) right now, everyone's characters are fully statted and their character sheets have been posted in the Characters section. If yours isn't, poke me, hard.

Now, I'm still working on the crazy mega-intro post. I hope it'll be done today, but if not, it's a bad sign. Heh. Sorry to take so long.

*huge sigh*

Finally!

Sorry if some of the intros are not at the degree of quality I normally hold myself to, but you'll understand that I was hurrying a little. I didn't want to have to finish that post tomorrow, since I'll probably have some time-consuming work from the dreaded school to do.

Anyways, read up and post away! You've all got to find yourselves something to do for the day until the meeting. Some of you have more time to kill than the others, but heh, that's intended. If you want to know how much money you start with, or have any kind of question at all, just ask me. Heh.

Nicely done, Franker; that's a hell of a lot of writing, but then again, you've got a lot of players. I'll see if I can get in a post after school today.

Tifa is also taking requests. Just PM me the following: If you want an avvy, sig, or both; the sizes; what pics you want used; any text you want added; and any other specs you have in mind. Just try not to go too overboard. :p

As I expected, I was busy all of yesterday and most of today. It's 8Pm, and I just finally got myself some free time. Rawr.

Anyways, I'm going to head over and read up.

EDIT: I'm almost done reading up. Just a small note; I'll have to wait until everyone, or at least almost everyone, is in Dante's Inferno before I can start the actual meeting. Hopefully, it shouldn't be too long before we get to see some action, heh.

Oh, and do keep in mind that what the Johnson(s) tells you is not always true.

Sorry for the delay in replying. It will probably not be until Sunday before I have time to write another post at all, for reasons you ought to know. It might have to be delayed until Tuesday, because I have to turn in some research stuff in preparation of an essay I'm going to write during the course of the year. I've got something around three books, five websites and two magazines to read, along with two or three interviews to make and an audio analysis report to listen to, all within that time frame. Hopefully, I'll be done with all that Saturday -- I really don't want that thing to keep me busy the whole weekend. Gah.

Whoa. Grunt gave me an excellent opportunity to "slip by" some random in-game information on magic. Heh. Funz!

So, I've put in a major data-block in that post I'm going to post... some time far, far away in the future (I'm writing parts in the order I got the replies, so I've only got two of you guys done so far). Anyways, I'm off for the night. I just had a spare hour here, which is why I started working on this post. Those things are starting to get pretty large. Hopefully, they'll condense as the story progresses and you get together in the same place at the same time. Heh.

Oh shit.

I just got my hands on the relatively recent SR4 sourcebook Augmentation. Damn, this stuff is crazy. I mean it. It goes beyond Cyberware and Bioware, and down into Genegrafting, Transgenics, Biodrones, Advanced Cybermancy, and even Full-blown Cyborgs. All that without missing a frame of the Nanotech and Biotech (Advanced Medtech, actually) markets. Some of the stuff here isn't applicable to the current campaign because of time-related issues (i.e. they might become available later on in the game, if we get that far), but a lot of it is quite valid.

However, I'm not ready to go into cybermancy or anything like that just yet, and cyborg-stuff is just out of the question, for the simple reason that it would be quite a mess to roleplay properly. This is, of course, stuff that your characters wouldn't know about, so keep all of the stuff here OOC until I've posted the relevant information in the right place.

I'm sorry for the stall in the game, too. I've been busy as drek because of a few projects, and I expect to be busy until Friday still. The "post" progresses well, though, for someone who's had around five hours of free time in the last three days (excluding the hour I just spent reading that new sourcebook).

One thing that I really love in particular about this new book is that the stuff it talks about is clearly divided into world-information and game-information. As such, it'll be a real breeze transferring stuff from there to the Game Info section once I get there.

I'm also downloading now a little software that should allow me to run an OCR right on PDF documents, which should then allow me to copy-and-paste information straight from certain "scanned" books (mostly 3rd Edition books, since their information is relevant but few digital versions were released, and they're damned hard to find in paper nowadays) and into here. That should allow me to give you some more information regarding Seattle (the city you're in currently), the UCAS, Shadowrun's history, and other nifty and useful information (like that thread on "hot" seattle locales on Jackpoint).

Gah, it feels like all I've been doing in this forum ever since... ever, is apologizing for delays, for not being there, and related time distortions. It's getting annoying, so I'd better get on track and start catching up.

I'm up to Stonehead/UskIghte/Wade 's post now, so as soon as I've successfully made my stat-sheet for that guy (I just found out that it was either lost some time ago or I never actually made one), the "post" should be coming in a matter of minutes. Here's hoping the actual mission will start pretty soon. I'm tired of things dying before they even start. No, don't ask.

EDIT: One thing I just saw in my notes from whenever ago is that it seems like very few of you have actually put much thought into two very important things: Weapons and False Identities. I'll admit to the fact that I barely mention IDs anywhere despite their importance, but you should know that weapons are pretty important to shadowrunners. How else are they going to just... survive?

As for false identities, just make sure you've got a SIN (or a fake one) somewhere you can use to... well, go to the mall, buy things, and pass routine Lone Star ID checks. Fake SINs come with distinct name and information, and things you buy are likely registered to that ID. For instance, you need a SIN to rent an apartment (unless the landlord is muddy). Don't go signing with *your* name for something that you just bought using a fake SIN, or you're in trouble.

If you want/need help for setting up a false identity (or more than one, since you might like having backups -- just keep in mind that things you buy are always attached to one identity, so it can get complex keeping track of things), just find a way to tell me as usual.

Now, if you've already done all that and are just waiting for things to do, here are some aspects of your character to consider and add to if you want (it's all purely accessory, of course; I'm just suggesting ways of furthering your character if you want to but don't know where to start):
-- Exact Age, Birth place, height, weight, hair color, eye color, and other little details about the character.
-- Think about habits, pastimes and occupations your character might have.
-- What would the character like to have or like to be? Any particular dreams or wishes?

Meanwhile, I'm still working here. I'm almost done with Usk's character (don't worry, I won't have to change anything from the character sheet itself, I'm just doing some number-crunching -- this one's much easier to deal with than other characters like Grunt's mage). It should be a matter of one or two hours now before this RP gets a good jolt forward.

Meh, post away!

If at all possible, wait until those who aren't at Dante's yet get there, and then just (IC) wait until 1600 and get down to the lower level, and enter the sixth room. There are people to tell you where it is just at the top of the stairs, but there's also a bouncer who'll prevent you from entering before 15:55.

Hey guys, I just found something interesting for you.

Y'all know that in 2070, eye modifications are common. Heck, genetic manipulations are becoming trendy, and the more exotic you are in the shadows the better. Cyber-eyes are normally a thing that lots of people get implanted in SR games (though we might have an all-time low record with you guys). However, even though everyone gets them, it's pretty rare that they actually think about what they'll looks like. Remember, the more exotic the better. Well, here's a nifty little page with a bunch of cool ideas on how to make your eyes that much more exotic: http://artsdesignblog.com/cool-lenses/

Those looks work both for gengineered eyes, cybereyes, cosmodded eyes or even contact lenses (which can also sport mods like thermographic vision, now in 2070, but that comes with the inconvenience of having to remove them if you want to see in normal colors).

On another note, PrinceKeldarh and crimson_knight should wake up ;)

I don't know if hackcrazy wants to make another post before we start, but if he hasn't posted by the time Prince and crimson have, I'll just move him in.

Here's another interesting thing: A Shadowrun Timeline in condensed vesion.

Ideally, you should read through the whole thing, but just make sure you're at least familiar with the 2011-2020 section and the post-2061 sections up to present day. This will make it much easier to understand why the SR world is how it is, and might help you figure out in what kind of environment you character grew up (all of you had to deal with Halley's comet and the crash of '64, which were both very important events -- especially the comet for magic-users and the crash for matrix-users). If you really feel like it, you could update your character background to reflect more appropriately these events. Note that I did say if you feel like it -- nothing compulsory here, but we're all about roleplaying, neh?

For a more detailed timeline, there's the very good one on the official SR4 website, but it's a (very) long read. Took me around five hours to go through it. (not that I needed to, I just wanted to re-familiarize myself with the events, since I'd already read many books and went through the History Lesson for the Reality Impaired section of the SR4 rulebook)

Another thing to check out is The AAA Megacorporations. Don't worry about knowing by heart all the AA or even single-A corporations, but please make sure you'll know what I'm talking about when I say that Renraku tried a hit on NeoNET. You don't have to be perfectly familiar with them or know how they run (well, it would help to know that stuff if your character has knowledge in corporate politics or something similar), just to know their names, how they're rated, and what they do.

In general, the entire Sixth World Wiki is a nice place to find IC information about the game. Feel free to look around and read whatever interests you.

Another note (yeah, heh) for you guys: I'm going to try and play this tactically. This means that you don't go in guns blazing unless it's part of a very well-thought-out plan, because there will be that one security guard who had a brilliant idea about exactly how to shoot the door so that it gets stuck or place the explosives in such a way that you're stuck when they blow up (or dead), so that he can both survive and earn a bonus on his paycheck.

Most of the time, (IC) you'll want to make sure everyone knows what to do, have backup plans, and try to think about what your enemy is probably thinking of, or at least thinking in a decently tactical manner. I mean, it's common sense that given two paths to a target, with one being much shorter than the other, there will be more defenses along the shorter path, because then the defense has more time to react if the attackers instead choose the longer path. OOCly, try to stick to what you believe is realistic and people would do, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Sometimes as a player you might not know what the security guard you just saw with thermographic vision on the other side of the door will do, but your character might have an idea about it. I know it's redundant to say this, but I feel it's important to say it everytime: If you were like this character, and were in the exact same situation, what would you do? How is that different from what your character would do? Add up the differences, and play it.

In general, try to at least communicate decently with eachother. One rule of thumb is to always have a means of communication, since in ShadowRun it's rather easy to have everyone carry a portacomp or a headset wired to their commlink -- or subvocal microphones taped to the throat, or transducers either implanted or "plugged-in" to the datajack or imlpanted commlink. The possibilities are almost endless.

One thing to keep in mind is that if it seems to make sense within the setting (i.e. Of course, there should be a program out there I could download to display those gun schematics and show me how to fix this damn thing! or Hey, with 2070's nanotech, there's surely a gadget out there you can just swallow that will deploy into an air filter in your trachea.), then just suggest it or tell me and something can surely be arranged. The lists I've put up are in no way exhaustive, and I'm pretty sure that even with years of planning and thinking I couldn't come up with everything that would be in the SR4 world. Hell, I couldn't come up with everything that's in our world, and that's half as much as SR gets.

Heh, I feel like the OOC thread has become a monologue announcement section.

Anyways, since PrinceKeldarh and crimson_knight haven't shown up in a long while and are not responsive, we will be proceeding with the RP without them. I assume none of you have an issue with this -- if otherwise, contact me.

Sorry, the post didn't make it. Probably because of that "way too much free time". Or maybe it was that "busy the whole fragging day working on an unexpected school project that I learned was to turn in for the next day and hadn't started working on, as usual". Dunno. It's anyone's guess.

Btw, life is fun. I just don't have much of it.
