I hadn't been treated wit any visitors for many a moon, and I had almost gone past breaking point of loneliness. The more than smoothing smell of Cocoa being burned auratiated throughout my entire home, and my heart had felt warm now as I stared out of my bedroom window. Out at the darkness, the only light being the slow snow falling. Most people would feel delightful this time 'round. Small pellets of snow fluttered through the crack, and assaulted my skin, melting near instant upon impact. My porch light cast the only light as far as my eyes could see. Anything I could see, however, were the outlines of trees and the grass in the shadow of light. The next thing I heard was a loud screaming noise admitting from my kitchen, startled, I turned my head as my heart raced until I realized it was my drink. I did the basic routine to make Cocoa, and I poured it into a coffee mug, only one of three I had, the other two were dirty. It took me several moments to find my way to the living room, as my house was tinted black. I sat on my windowsill, and carefully sipped the warm substance from the cup into my mouth. Just as I was about to return to my room, I spotted a small and near-lopsided figure walking toward my house. Figuring it was a Deer, I place the cup on the windowsill while I stood up and walked outside, standing where the door would be stationary. I could see short specs of my light brown hair going over my similar coloured eyes. I could now make out the figure, and it was quite obviously a girl. But I squinted my eyes to be sure. The figure was correct, it was a girl, and she was walking slowly to me. Chills ran up my spine to the back of my neck and I felt a small sign of fear and curiosity at the same time. I stepped onto the porch now, it was cold on my bare feet. I un-squinted my eyes and shouted, "Are you alright?". There was no reply, and she was now coming into the light emitted from the porch. She was beautiful. She wore what was probably a white skirt, which was now grey. Her whole body was shaking of cold, and her violet hair was almost a quarter white, being specced with snow. She was wearing no shoes, and her blue eyes were staring at the ground, I could barely make out the colour. I walked off my porch with haste, ignoring the cool snow on my feet and the freezing wind going through my body. As we came within touching distance, she collapsed to her knees with a snow crunching thump. I quickly knelt down to keep her balanced, so she would not fall. I pulled her to her feet, and put an arm around her shoulder, walking her back into the warm confines of my home. I faltered with the decision of what to do. Question her and give her a blanket, or give her something warm to drink and give her a blanket. Momentarily, I decided the latter. I placed her shivering body upon my couch, and hurried to my bedroom, grabbing my warmest blanket. I walked to my previous position and laid it on her, hoping it would help at all. After putting the blanket on her, I grabbed the coffee cup and walked to the front of her. I handed the cup, and she grabbed the handle, and slowly lapped it with her tongue. It was quite strange watching her drink like a cat. But I had assumed she couldn't get the cup to her lips because of how freezing she was. I sat beside her and stared in admiration. As I continued to think, more and more questions popped into my mind; Who was this girl? Where did she come from? How far had she been walking? I pondered these thoughts for several moments before I had to ask a question, "Are you hungry?" Her head shook very slightly, which I could barely make out, but I nodded my head in return, though she couldn't see it. Several minutes into the unexpected visit, I learned her name was Amaranth from the town of Honeoye. I also learned that Amaranth basically translated to undying flowers. I had to fetch her another cup of Cocoa when she was finished with the one I had given her. She had never tasted it before, and was instantly hooked. Another time I had to get up was more recent, to put another finely cut piece of oak wood into the fireplace which she envied for it's contribution of heat. It was almost midnight now, and my eyes started to dim. I told her she could sleep in my bed tonight if she'd like, and obliged my offer. We went to bed after exchanging names and some information on this night. This cool night. |

Part Two Our moist lips met, and the flush of enjoyment overtook me. My hands caressed her sides, our feelings for each other mutual. I had only known her for a day, but I was already in love. She put her hands around my neck in a relaxed manner while we toyed with each other's tongues. It was that feeling... that warm feeling that happened very rarely. I'm not sure I could describe it, however, it's something you must find out for yourself. The details around me were very vague, but her image was crystal clear. She stopped teasing my tongue and moved toward my ear, and whispered something very quietly. It was hard to make out myself but my heart sunk. That happy feeling it died. Instantly. I was now feeling very cold and alone. My eyelids opened slowly, and a large white figure was above me. I closed them, and opened again, and she was standing over me with a wide smile. I returned a small smile and sat up with my elbows on my pillow, which to my discomfort, I had drooled on. The wind no longer howled like it had the previous nights, nor was it snowing. Staring at her for a few seconds, I questioned; "What's wrong?". She replied to me timidly and shyly with, "Nothing!". I looked around and moved my feet up closer to my chest and sat cross legged, yawning still. My nostrils opened, and I smelt something strange. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, so I examined my surroundings much more. Then I looked to the kitchen; a complete mess! There was brown powder everywhere, over everything, and several pans were laid around the stove, which was nearly bare and spotless yesterday. I exchanged the glance at her, frowning slightly. "Did you try to make that last night?" The smile upon her face became small and she mellowly replied, "Nope!!" I smiled at her, "Oh well." It was almost noon when I had woken up. And several minutes after complying to her denial of fulfilling on destroying all of my food and taken a shower, we began cleaning the kitchen. I watched her carefully and hinted a smile each time. Within another hour, the entire kitchen was cleaned, and put back into place. I sat back onto the couch which was a blanket and pillow full. She pointed to a sword mounted above the fireplace and questioned me about it. Every time I tried to answer, and got half way through a sentence, she would ask another question. "What's that sword?" "It's my family's-" "How did you get this place?" "Well-". Several more minutes of questions were asked, which almost started to annoy me, but I'd only think of that dream to relieve myself. It would relieve the stress of the questions, until I got to the last part of it. What she had whispered, that dark feeling, everything just made it worse. After my attention span died temporarily, she asked another question, one that shocked me. "So, when did you become a knight?" I looked at her and blinked several times, unsure if I should answer or if she'd cut my sentence in half again. "I'm not exactly OFFICIALLY a Knight," I replied, "I'm training to become one." Without more words, she entered back into my room and looked out the window while I sat on the couch and laid back down. Now, how about I explain everything to you. My name is Ori Cranston. The year is fourteen eighty three. It is January sixteenth today. I am studying to become a Knight so I can protect the weak and helpless, for Justice. I am seventeen years old, and am in the forest of Bextil. This house is small and wooden, with only a kitchen, a living room, and my room. Last night, a girl was nearly an ice cube, and walking toward my house while I was looking out the window. She came in, and I allowed her to stay as long as she'd like. Her name is Amaranth, she's the same age as I. She is from Honeoye, a small village around Capitol. She seems ditsy, and is very eccentric. Her village was burned in a raid, where the woman were raped and buildings burned. She escaped, and wandered for two days in the freezing cold with only a white dress. |

| Hmm... the story so far is well written, and aside from a very few grammar mistakes, it's virtually void of error. I could tell you spent plenty of time on this, and luckily, the events were easy to follow. Keep it up as best you can. |

| Plenty of time? Ohhh Grunt, you overestimate me! Took me about 40 minutes of typing and thinking up the story for the first one, about 25 or so for the second part, lol. Thanks for the feedback though! |

| Maybe I'm simply a maliciously slow thinker when it comes to storymaking... Whoo. |

Nice story Seize, I agree with Grunt in that it was well written and had few flaws. I am amazed that it only took you an hour or so to write. Grunt, your not the only slow writer. I actually have to research names, colors, etc. for Breaking point. (which I have had no time to work on) |

Two more days went by, quite dull as usual. Snow's melting a bit, should be able to walk around without turning into an ice cube tomorrow. We played Chess yesterday, which, to my surprise, she had never seen either. It took me sixty-two turns to finally win, she kept moving her damned King around! When I first moved a piece, she'd call me a cheater. It took me a whole two hours to explain to her how the pieces moved and such. I honestly don't understand how someone her age, the same as mine, knows literally nothing. While we were playing the game, I looked up at her while deciding my move and questioned her of the whereabouts of her parents. She stared at me for some moments, with a stern face, and replied with no hint of haste whatsoever, that they were dead. I apologized, and watched her move her Knight forward, then to the right. She looked back at me and grinned, "Checkmate!" Damn. I can't believe I lost to someone who'd never even played before until now. After losing a couple more games of Chess to her, she became very bored, so I suggested that we share some simple stories. She explained the story of these 'Elves' to me. Apparently, Elves were like Humans, but with long ears, eyebrows, and were very tall. I tried not to chime in whenever I had a question. They were skilled with Bows and glaives, which I actually laughed at. Just the thought of other races than humans was funny enough. They were heroic people with the perfect lifestyle. There was no crime, no death, no famine, nothing negative. I enjoyed the story for quite some time, and she told me several more. I had no idea someone as clumsy and strange as her would have so many great things to share, she was a phenomenal story teller. That's basically all we did that entire day, quite dull. She slept in my room again, I slept on the couch, again. It took me a while to fall asleep, as my back had already started to hurt slightly. I had that same repeating dream, her and I... together. I still couldn't make out what she whispered that gave my heart such a cold feeling though. It was on my mind when I went to sleep, hoping it would be possible to actually hear it. I awoke naturally today. As I sat up, I was astonished at how regular everything was. No weird girl standing over me grinning, no messes, nothing. I didn't even hear anyone walking around, so I assumed she was asleep. Wiping the sleep out of my eyes, I walked to my room, which was vacant to my surprise. Questions popped into my head; Where did she go? Did she leave? I walked to the window in the living room and peered out, which was now ice and snow less. I looked around, but only the forest around me was in sight. My strange new feelings overtook me, and I decided to search for her. Seeing how I had no horse, I would travel on foot. Really, how far could she have gotten? I strapped on my armor and grabbed my sword, I also fastened several pouches of food and a canteen of water on my belt. Bread would be delicious for the trip. Maybe those goons were still there, maybe not, but it's best to stay on the safe side. I left my house and began my walk north; where I had noted her village was. I really hope it doesn't snow soon. It took her three days just to get here. A day and a half of walking now, and I'm fine with the food 'supply'. I have enough to last me a couple more days, preferably three if I can find her. Damn, I've been calling her name all day my throat is sore. As for the weather, well, may I say that it's been very calm in my favor. I set up my pathetic camp last night sitting next to some trees. I really wish there was a road of any sort to lead me in the right direction, I've probably steered off course though. |
