That sounds more plausible rather than the entire world ending -.- Also The Mayans were not that accurate ... They HAVE gotten some things wrong. Even some of the things they predicted have to be very stretched out to fit into an event in history ...

Duke, the Mayans accuracy wasn't about predictions. It was about the fact that they knew more about the solar system than NASA did up till recently. The Mayans knew about all of the objects in our solar system, even without all the instruments at their disposal. Simply put, they used mathematics in ways that we are presently unable to understand in order to accurately predict what was where in the sky. Every time NASA discovered a new planet, it was found that the Mayans had already known about it, and were 100% accurate in their knowledge about it.

The end of the Mayan calender meaning the end of the world is only one theory about the Mayan calender. However, since it's the most interesting one it's the one that gets publicized. All we know is that something BIG is supposed to happen then. We don't really know what. I'm willing to believe that the Mayans were right.

Well Mayans may have known things about our universe but for them to predict the end of the world is astronomically unlikely .... Future can change on a dime in my opinion. There is no scientific way to prove they knew any advanced form of algebra (correct me if I'm wrong about that).

Duke, they did NOT predict the end of the world. This is simply the time when their calender ends. It is believed that the calender works in 3600 year cycles, which is the same time period that this object is supposed to return and fuck everything up. Hence the occurrence of doomsday theories

To Loner: It meant that. It's in before fallout3. Anyways, I'm just saying if a volcano does wipe out, indeed. 90% It'll be like Fallout 3.

I'll give you this, this is a very interesting topic. Personally? I don't think the world would end on 2012, or December 21st to get Technical. It makes no sense, but, if something were to coincidentally happen, (Nukes going off from North Korea) then in a way, you can say the world is going to end. The World will not end for thousands of years, civilization? Human existance? That can end at any time, but the Earth as a place? Millions, hundreds of thousands of years. Sure, as the comment was said that the world would end in the new millenium, it didn't, did it? And the whole planet system to go out of order and plants to strike eachother, that is definately not going to happen in three years... *
