Sriptures of the Arcane Forum Rules 1. HARMONY All Members will respect their fellow member. I will not repeat this, whether it is within this paragraph or of my own tongue. It is highly expected that you act courteous and chivalrous to all others: Newcomer, Moderated, whatever. I am highly intolerable of any forms of disrespect: While, the other Administrators may simply scold you for your ill-behavior, I will utterly kick your ass. Insolence pisses me off to a great extent. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the instigation of my unholy, god-killing wrath. 2. PROFANITY Under no circumstances should you post any type of Pornography within Forum threads or topics. “Pornography,” if you don’t know, is photography or visual media that exposes human genitalia, breast, sexual fluids, or similar. This also applies to “Light-Porno.” I don’t care: Pornography is Pornography. If I catch you posting any sort of media that breaks this rule, I will ban you. However, if you are truly the pervert, you can swap your dirty objects of masturbation between each other via Private Messages, so long as the receiver agrees to such terms. If I don’t see it, it doesn’t exist. Case closed. 3. LANGUAGE Don’t get me wrong: I don’t believe for a moment that anyone within this Forum could be considered any type of Saint. We all cuss, but we cuss for emphasis, light-hearted gesturing, and to manifest our anger. However, if you replace every single one of your Adjectives with the word “Fuck,” we’re going to have a problem. I don’t care angry, cool, or stylish you think you are: Don’t cuss like a moron. 4. GRAMMAR So, you’re not the most outstanding conversationalist of our generation. I understand that, and I certainly don’t mind the use of acronyms and slang. However, if you insist on speaking “113|< 7|-|12,” lIkE tHiS,” or “liek dis lolololol,” we’re going to get on to you. If you can use the effort to replace simple letters with predefined numerals and symbols, you can redirect that effort into typing out complete phrases that people can actually understand. Another note: When accentuating, please refrain from typing more than three exclamation points, “like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111.” It’s really annoying, no one enjoys such, and it makes you look like a dumbass. Unless the said person is a dumbass like you. 5. SENSIBILITY A-la, your Common Sense. When posting in a topic or thread, it pays to figure out what everyone is talking about. Thus, if you know that the subject of the thread is “Car-washing,” don’t pop in and scream “Wat kind off musicz doo u guyz lizen 2!?!?!?.” Dumbass. Likewise, don’t obliviously spam the same phrase multiple times, or multiples phrases multiple times. It merely clogs up space that could be used for more rational converses. If you truly desire to release your inner dumbass, congest the Shoutbox. This rule does not apply there. This rule may be broken by ignoring it on multiple occasions, so it would be wise to catch yourself before we catch you. Dumbass. 6. ROLEPLAYING Ah, the fine art of Role-Playing, or assuming the guise of another character in order to entertain one’s self (More popularly known as RPing.). Alas! I only wish I had more time to taste it’s sweet rewards of labor. RPing is a great pastime for some, and a taboo to others. For us, it’s a great pastime. When you join an RP, you are mostly at the mercy of the DM/GM, or the ruling body of authority in an RP. You may not become a DM/GM without consent of the primary DM/GM, and you may not break these rules, plus any other rule that might be interwoven into the RP itself by the DM/GM. When participating in any sort of RP, please have the decency to read and reply to it every few days. If a curfew for posting is not specified, take an hour or so out of your time every day to review any additional contributions that may have been added in your absence. If a schedule is presented, please abide by it. Stay committed to your RP and, if for some reason you can no longer participate in said RP, please PM/Notify the DM/GM of the discontinuation of your character. Also: All said DM/GMs are required to have an Out of Character Discussion thread – More commonly known as OOC. OOC is where Players post normally about subjects concerning the RP; Under no circumstance should you include OOC within an In-Character (IC) post, unless you discern this OOC by parenthesis or beginning the phrase with “OOC:,” followed by the OOC comment. If you wish to create an RP, you must post the specifics within the “RP Proposals” section, where it will be reviewed my Administrators, Moderators, and Members of the community to determine if it is worth their RP. If approved, said Administrators will build the necessary topic for the RP and give you power of that topic – And that topic only. Afterwards, I (Flak.) will stamp an Approval within your OOC and you can get on your way. Failure to receive the affirmation of the message board’s members will result in the stamp of “Failure.” This stamp deems the RP unsuitable for the Forums, and will not be built by an Administrator. If you have the access to the Administrator Control Panel and you make the RP regardless, you will have committed an Offense. Adjacent offenses will eventually result in temporary loss of Administrative powers. 6.1 RELEVANCY When participating in an RP, it’s important to know what the hell it’s about. If you jump into a Futuristic Science Fiction RP with your pimped-out super-charged half-orc barbarian, then one: It makes you look like a dumbass, two: You look like a dumbass, and three: People will think you’re a dumbass. Read the RP’s information topics and learn what the RP’s main genre will be, then craft a character sheet and play your character accordingly. 6.2 ABILITY Use your common sense. Unless the RP plainly states “Go crazy” in some way, shape, or form, try to think judiciously and ask yourself “Could my character really do that?” before attempting that super-awesome double ninja twist. In Fantasy and Abstract Settings, of course, this rule isn’t enforced as severely. Regardless, this law should be looming over your head each time you’re posting up your character’s actions. Speaking of character, stay in-character. If your manifesto is a dark and brooding type with a troublesome past, don’t suddenly burst into song about the wonderful candy factory you built for orphaned dolphins. And vice versa. 6.3 GODLY MODIFICATION This rule describes the use of God-Modding, or unfair exercise of text to describe actions that are totally out of context with the RP and/or benefit your character or avoid a particular situation. God-Modding is applied when you kill multiple enemies at once without falter, instantaneously persuade another Player-Character to do what you want within your own post, instantaneous slaying of another Player-Character without falter, controlling a player-character without said player’s consent, and so on. There’s a very long list of what could be considered God-Modding, but, to keep it short: Whenever you perform godly actions within an RP that may or may not be seemingly illogical, you are God-Modding. Unless the GM/DM unmistakably affirms that Godly Modification of the RP is allowed, you are to abide by this decree. 7. RESPONSIBILITY If you earn the position of Moderator, make sure you earn it. Moderators are promoted to such a position because they follow the Forum rules, remind other of the Forum rules, and generally assist other members with their problems. A moderator’s duty is to uphold these regulations and delete illegal topics, redirect threads, ban members for inconsiderate behavior, and so on. However, the rank of Moderator is all but permanent; You may lose the rank very easily. If you break a rule or abuse your abilities, you will be immediately expunged from your arrangement and will be reverted back to your good ‘ole status of the mundane “Member.” Once expelled, you may not be promoted back to Moderator; When it’s gone, it’s gone, no matter how much you may redeem yourself. This rule also applies to Administrators… But, usually, they’re Administrators for a reason. However, even if you are not a Moderator, you still have a responsibility to act accordingly. If you can’t delete the topics yourself, notify someone who can. If you can’t report the intolerant actions of others, notify someone who will. If you can’t reinstitute order into a particular thread, notify someone who can. It’s your job to keep our Message boards clean, safe, and friendly to all. 8. MATURITY Last, but most certainly not least, is the concept of mature behavior. We don’t want to hear about how you banged your girlfriend last night; We don’t want to hear about how everything and everyone is homosexual in the world and it’s not your fault; We don’t want you to swear your allegiance to Neo-Nazism. Simply put; when browsing these Forums, please act your age and use the logic that your brain is capable of. Unless, of course, your brain isn’t capable of logical thinking. Then you probably shouldn’t be here. While, you won’t necessarily be punished for acting childishly, it is extremely annoying, and the tolerance of the other members is your only delay against being banned. So, do us all a favor and stop acting like a dumbass, dumbass. And that’s all folks. If you break any of these Laws more than three times in a single year in any combination, you’ll be banned. For perpetuity. That means forever. However, they are not all that hard to follow, and, if you act with good judgment and aptitude, you’ll be fine. Otherwise, Follow these Rules. Break them, and I’ll break you. - Flak of Cannon, Forum Administrative Necromancer.- Grunt of War, Forum Administrator and Cremator- DaFranker, Resident Forum Cyborg.- [Slot for Project.Seeds.] Edited by Flak, Mar 5 2009, 10:21 PM.
