well it's obviously not good..... Actually I had to write an essay on that subject last year. Oh well, let me know how your's goes! j/k Somethings you may want to discuss; Overuse of food and natural resources, increased pollution, soil erosion, spread of disease.... (There really aren't any good things) However, the world's population is only really increasing in Asia and Africa. In North America, the population is actually declining. Most couples are choosing to have fewer kids than in the past. It's just too expensive and modern north American society isn't really geared for large families. In other countries, large familys are needed and are more traditional. Children often have many chores and are used to help the family earn a living. |

Though overpopulation (well not the best term to use) is useful in Canada. In order to maintain Canada in this state they need more people entering Canada (immigrants to refugees.) Right now, Canada is very unpopulated and with more people, more work is created. |

Canada strives on more population though. Even I know that. With less population then less GNP and GNI is created resulting Canada to undergo a recession. |

That makes no sense. We don't strive on increasing population, we strive on economic and resource stability. Dramatically increasing the population would throw this way out of whack. |

USA is overpopulated but with more population = more money. but overstacked population= recession. resources run out consumption of goods consumers demand for goods and producers can't meet the quota. |

well not in Canada I believe. I think there's a lot of jobs available that need to be filled. For example, there is so much work to be needed in Natural Resources since I read that many of the workers will be retiring in less then 10 years. So there is a need for a bigger population to fill those spots. |

overpop can be bad within 3rd world countries as it just creates a humanitarian crisis.....look at the tsunamais...within 1st world countries its good cause of wealth, industrialization etc. eg. present-day europe ..the trick is being able to balance population which canada is doing rite now very well....however in the future places like europe will REALLY feel the strain of too many ppl if its not already feeling such a strain........and if humans find no future places to settle (planets) then i c a gigantic war or somthing catastrophic as there will be no other way to decrease the population....kinda sad for us........ |

Actually, UN studies predict global population will level out at about 8 billion. The current population is about 6 billion. |

Well there aren't a lot of marriages happening recently. It seems all the girls don't like the males or something. Perhaps we're not good enough that's more of a ethical concern. |

More people are simply choosing to have less kids. If two people get together and have just one kid, the population is not going to increase. Plus there are millions of people who never even have kids. |

its a touchy subject.. but i say its good and bad at the same time. birth is good.. and it helps the countries is some ways. but its bad in others causing lack of jobs etc. just the stuff you all listed about. i just thought i'd state my opinion. i dont think over population is good though. i would almost rather it be underpopulated |

underpopulated is better. Look at Japan, people have to get pushed in to fit in a bus. One small island= 126 million people ?! WTF |
