I'm surprised no one said this one.

Hinata, easily.

Deidara comes in somewhat of a close second... and Temari comes in at third.

Hinata is the most flat character in the series. How can you like her? She doesn't change at all and she rarely says anything.

My favorite character

Hinata Hyuga. Perhaps it's because I like the kind, quiet people. Or perhaps it's because I admire her own struggle to change herself. Her fight with Neji was one of the most emotional moments in Part I, if not the entire series. The introduction of her "Protective Eight Trigrams, Sixty-Four Palms" move in the Bikochu arc was one of the moments where you have to love her, even if you don't.

She's never annoying, but always kind and unwilling to hurt others' feelings. In the "Naruto Vs. Kiba" fight, she wants to support Naruto, but knows that it would hurt Kiba, so she doesn't (Though, some have argued that she was having somewhat of an internal struggle on who to root for).

I think it's her kindness and admirable fight to change herself, along with other stuff, that make me a big fan. I second Ryuka in saying that Hinata is easily my favorite character. ^_^

My close second

Shino Aburame (Yes -- I really, really like Team Eight). He is just plain awesome. His insect-based fighting style is too cool, as is his quiet, intelligent manner. I'd also say that he's quite kind to other creatures (Being so close to bugs all your life would cause such a humane nature to be quite natural) -- I admire and respect the trait of kindness (I'm guessing that's one of the reasons I really like Hinata). I'm the type who won't even hurt a mosquito as it's sucking me dry on a Summer night.

Getting back to Shino, his massive amount of intelligence is also quite cool. He is like Shikamaru -- a genius who keeps a few steps ahead of his opponents. In his fight with Zaku, he covertly planted bugs in his arms to plug up both wind holes, and then used his bugs to lure him into using the air waves, which caused his arms to explode. In his fight with Kankuro, he pretended to miss him in order to plant a female beetle onto his arm, and then distracted him while a swarm of his bugs moved in from behind. In his fight with the Kamizuru clan, he purposely provoked Suzumebachi's Queen Bee into attacking he, Naruto, and Kiba, to protect himself and the others. Then, he secretly weakened the wax with his kikaichu.

I'd say that's quite untrue. She has a personality, a backstory, development, and a goal -- she is certainly not a flat character. She doesn't get very much screentime (Not enough, in my opinion), but she does develop and change very much as the series goes on.

She rarely says anything, but the frequent portrayal of her being so quiet around others that she can't even speak is inaccurate. Watch the fillers (Which, IMO, are canon -- they are canon plots to give the manga time to get some distance from the anime) and you'll clearly see that she can form sentences without constant stuttering, and can speak. I'd say that you'd hear her speak more often if she was given more screen time and attention.

In my humble opinion, I'd rather have her (No offense, Sakura fans) as the main female in the series. Personally, I don't like Sakura Haruno very much. She has her moments, but I ain't a big fan of her. Once again, I can appreciate the positive things about her, and I mean no disrespect at all to the Sakura fans out there, but she's just a character I don't like very much. I'm not into character bashing and I honestly don't hate her (Like I said, she has her moments), but she's just not the kind of character I really like.

In most cases, I decide who my favorite characters are based on whether or not I'd like them in real life. I get a bit annoyed when people hate on a character, despite the fact that he/she has a good personality and good development, because he/she is 'weak' or something of that sort.

Well, I'm done -- hope you enjoyed my opinion.

P.S. -- Please don't rip on me, Hinata, or Shino because of what I've said, Sakura fans. I love all of you. ;)

P.S. #2 -- HinataxShino is my favorite pairing in the series. After watching the Bikochu arc, I was quite convinced that Shino has feelings for her. I should construct a thread. We can actually see subtle hints of this all throughout the series, in fact.
