A lot of times people use religion to gain political power; some use religion to earn money. Agree/disagree? I don't know.. but I've heard true stories where priests would actually steal some money from the offering... and when it comes to sermon, this priest would actually use the bible as his weapon and preach. He would talk about how slandering is bad in a church.. bla bla bla. I'm sick of politics at my home church (not in Canada). The bible is so open to many interpretations. It's funny how people uses Christianity to gain power sometimes.. because the 3rd commandment says "Thou shall not use my name in vain". |

Religion and Politics should be kept as far away as possible from each other. |

Agreed. I hate it when religion and politics are mixed. EVERYONE has different beliefs. Our government is an alleged democracy and democracy means of the people. If people have different beliefs then how does a government based on ONE religion work? I also don't like the fact that politicians are now using religion to win the majority of the Christian population to better votes and support. I'm agnostic and I speak for agnostic/atheist portion of the population when I say that saying something on behalf of morals and beliefs under christianity does not mean that everyone is religious. I don't appreciate that fact that Bush uses this 'get out of stupid statements free' card to win over the population. Sorry to digress  but gay marriage shouldn't be up to politicians. Whether or not they make this decision does not affect them. However, it affects other people. I don't care if the bible or God says its wrong (or if that's what they claim). If their "God" is soo great, why can't he accept all people? If all people were created equal and have equal rights, then why are they discriminating? How can a "God" that loves all people hate ? Also abortion is another example of the government butting in where not needed nor appreciated. They are soo freakin' selfish. Sorry for the language but How the hell would they like to carry a freakin' baby for nine months while trying to cope with the fact that they were raped and their life will never have the same meaning? As long as it doesn't affect them, they don't care. Also, they have the mindframe that only voices "If the bible says its wrong, then it must be wrong". Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a Bible basher. In fact, I'm into comparitive religions (hell I even take the class), but they make religions look stupid. Christianity is not bad, no religion is. But they misrepresent the beliefs of *ACTUAL* Christians. My mom is Baptist and I know that ACTUAL Christians believe that "God" loves everyone, so how can most support a man that says otherwise. How can we trust a man that takes a religion and a famous and "sacred" book and manipulate it to his own advantage? <_< |
