There is no other source. Every new idea we have like "fuel cells" and such...they're great ideas. But they simply can't even come close to producing energy like oil did. Plus, they require more energy to make than they give out. There's about 1 trillion barrels of oil left to get in the world. Then we're out. The entire world uses about 28 million a day. 28 or 26... somewhere around there. At this rate, we will have enough oil to last roughly 100 years more. We can't get oil on any other freaking planets, so get that out of your head. Oil is fossil fuel. Which means you need living things to be there... and die. As far as we no, there's no living things on other planets. But that's a whole other tangent. America makes up 5% of the population of the world... and uses around 25% of the resources. Once we run out of resources... I think there's going to be a major reduction in the world's population and a drastic change in human's lifestyles. I read in some magazine that if everyone had an suv and commuted about 30 minutes to work and back each day... you know, that kind of lifestyle, we would need 28 seperate Earths to fuel the population. If, however, everyone lived like a person who rode their bike to work each day, and had jobs that were a bike ride from their house, guess how many Earths we would need? One. Simply put, the Earth isn't big enough to host all the people we currently have. My opinion, take it or leave it, is that we are gonna lose a major chunk of population, and many of the technology-based aspects of our lifestyles. The sad thing is that it may be too late to reverse our momentum. But hey, at least all of us will already be dead, eh? lol. |

We'll see in a few years because it is starting to happen now. America has been blind and has made its economy rely only on oil. EVERYTHING basically requires oil, food production, product production, product delivery, EVERYTHING. The sad truth is that America won't do anything about it. These "alternative fuels" mean nothing but it gives people the sense that we can just switch to another product, not so. The main thing that will happen is obviously the industrial age will truly end and we will have a mix of old and new. It is not about running out, which seems to be what people believe, it is about not having enough. Right now we are close to not meeting our demand for oil and we still expect to have our economy grow, which would mean more oil needed. |
