This has been reported on various internet message boards, so it doesn't seem to be a small problem. The rumored explanation for the game causing the Xbox 360 to freeze/break down is that the game is one of the first that uses both of Xbox 360's cores at one time.

This could be a problem for future gaming though. Dead Rising is the first game to use both cores on the 360 but it doesn't full utilize both cores. Perhaps a game like Halo 3 which may use 3 cores will overheat the console faster then something like Dead or Alive 4 which only uses 1.

yep I got my copy at the west end bestbuy on launch day. It's a really good game. Not Resident Evil 4 quality but it's something really unique to any games i've played.
