Multiple times it has been predicted that PC gaming will die. These "predictions" are pretty much fact, because the event is always so certain and unavoidable. However, PC gaming has come back somehow, over and over, to be killed again and again. Let's examine the many deaths of PC gaming.

1.) At first video games could only be experience of elaborate and expensive computers. However, soon that would change, and video games would be free to the masses. One word: Atari. And with that, PC gaming was dead before it even started.

2.) OK, so the console market crashed and PCs got vaguely affordable. Big deal. The NES brought gaming back to the masses with a new degree of power after the preceding market crash. The fact was, the limited use of expensive PCs to play games was eclipsed, and no one ever played games on a PC again. PC gaming was dead.

3.) No one is quite sure why they kept making PC games, since no one played them. However, the SNES and Genesis would certainly put an end to it once and for all. How could any dorky home computer stand up to the impressiveness that a modernized, dedicated console could supply? PC gaming was dead, again.

4.) However, some stupid PC gamings didn't get the memo, and thye go suckered into buying expensive "3D" accelerators. In a vain attempt to justify their purchase, they bought unpopular and worthless games to take advantage of it, like Quake. Soon all games would require these expensive cards, and the few willing to pay for them would not be able to support the market. PC gaming... was dead.

5.) However, the console market just loved beating dead horses. The PS1 and N64 would bring this 3D power to the masses for affordable prices, a slap in the face to the PC platform. That was it, it was over, no one would even sell PC games anymore. PC gaming was dead, for REAL this time.

6.) ...seriously, how is this thing still around? No matter... The Dreamcast, it can connect to the internet, the last stronghold of the supposedly dead PC industry. And the PS2? Let me spell it out for you: E-M-O-T-I-O-N E-N-G-I-N-E. It will be vastly stronger than any computer even, and Saddam is even using them to control missiles, holy crap. PC gaming is dead, no really, I'm serious this time.

7.) Dang, so persistent. But oh well, if the PS2 wasn't enough to finish it off, why don't we add two more consoles? The GameCube is incredibly cheap and will attract third parties like no tomorrow, probably including most the remaining desperate PC developers. And the Xbox, it HAS A HARD DRIVE! And it can play DVDs like the PS2, a full multimedia center! And since there is USB, they will surely let you use a mouse and keyboard! PC has NOTHING left going for it... IT'S DEAD!

8.) Let's face it, it's dead. Games like Half Life 2 and the Sims are getting horrible reviews and horrible sales, the good publishers are being forced to go console only left-and-right. However, that's not going to stop consoles from delivering a finishing fatality move: XBOX LIVE IS COMING! The fact is, the second consoles do online gaming vastly superior than PCs, every PC gamer in the world will just quit. Just get up, uninstall their crappy games like StarCraft and Civilization, and buy a console. They will probably now be able to get around to that keyboard and mouse thing too, right? The day Xbox Live launches will be known as the day that PC gaming is finally, ultimate, not-kidding-this-time, dead.

9.) OK, SOMEHOW there are still a couple PC games around, no one knows how, I blame evil pixel dust... But that's no matter. The Cell is everything the emotion engine was promised to be, stronger than a supercomputer. And the 360's CPU isn't far behind! Plus, the GPUs of both are better than anything out there for the PC, rendering at super high resolutions of 1280x720, way higher than any PC game ever before. And for real this time, they'll get keyboard and mouse support, not a joke like last time. And the Wiimote? BETTER than a mouse. PC gaming is deader than it's ever been dead before.

What, you say that the PC world had the PS3's GPU over 18 months ago? You say that WoW has more players than the population of some nations? You say that mods exist to make PC games better? Lies, all of it. Lies, lies, lies. It's dead, totally and completely dead.

And don't you dare say the words Vista, DirectX 10, or Crysis. They are figments of your imagination.
