Do you think GTA should be accessible in stores?

ive been playing violent video games my entire life, and look how i turned out, posting on SBS, like any other typical teen

Let's not try to get into that debate. That's a completely different story. Sufficient evidence has already proven that a majority of the teens are unphased by the games they play. However, there is a small population that is influenced by the games they play and that resulted in a few unpleasent situations.

Case in point;
The VT shooting where the killer would excessively play Counter Strike 1.6. Not saying that CS was the cause of the shooting but it must've had a small impact on him. But let's save that for another day.l

First of all, if this game is not rated Ao then what game is considered that rating? This game does everything from killing bystanders, cops, gang members, the elderly to reckless driving, prostituion, sex, drugs, alcohol....... and it passed with an M rating.

So I think the question we should be asking here is that if this game got a M rating, then what kind of game(s) are deserving of an Ao rating?

To go off topic, they report mentioned he played Counter Strike in High School, but there was no evidence of a continual use into college. His roommate had even commented on how he would only write while he was at the computer and nothing else. That and the police couldn't find a single video game in his room after the crime.

Er, Wave, I think you also meant to say one needs to be 21 to purchase alcohol, 18 to buy cigarettes, and 17 to buy M-rated games (18 for AO-rated) here in the US.

But, yes, in terms of acquirement, I'll agree that the buyer must always provide proof they are legally able to make that purchase. As a rule of thumb for M-rated games, I was told that if the buyer looks over 30, you probably don't need to ask for their ID. In most cases, you can usually tell who needs to be carded.

What games deserve AO? Definitely ones that focus solely around sexual themes for the most part. Violence is very subjective though. How much violence is too much for a game? (By the way, here's a Wikipedia list of some AO-rated games: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AO-rated_products)

imagine how smart moomoo would be if he were able to indulge in higher intellectual gaming with bigger words than "feed, play with, clean up after" kind of thing, imagine him listening in on the intellectual properties of immigration laws, and collateral damager, and Coriolis effect, etc etc

You can't expect anyone 12 and under to fully grasp all the genius satire in a game like Grand Theft Auto IV. Most kids still just play games for face value around that age. I don't know anyone that would go back just to hear the random chatter among civilians or watch all the TV spin-off shows. When you mention GTA around them, they would surely talk forever about hijacking the cars, killing people, weapons, etc. I don't know if they would be able to recognize and explain the Euphoria engine, well, they wouldn't. I would be quite surprised if someone a lot younger than me talked about it.

Granted, there are much better games young kids can be playing than Catz, Dogz, or any other animal tycoon title. I just wish most people valued video games more, then they would probably look into a game or ask about it before making the purchase.

you right Andy, im a fuckin' idiot because i thought moomoo could have a shred of intelligence within him, i guess you two love each other so much..

If we were to remove GTA from stores itts pretty much the same punishment as an Ao rating, and without it being in stores and people not like using their credit cards online it would be a death sentence
