Apparently they finally got him.
Osama bin Laden has been killed tonight in Pakistan, 100 kms north of Islamabad, by a team of Navy SEALS, and his body buried at sea.

The position of the USA in the 'War on Terror' will change now ?
Islamic terrorism will suffer the blow and decline, or the death of its leader will backfire and trigger a new of attacks ?
Or perhaps it won't change anything ?

Opinions are welcome.

While we have cut off the head of the snake, the snake still lives. There are others that were involved with attacks upon western contries and their allies. Therefore the war is far from over.
Does this mean a new series of attackes? I would say we shall see an increase in attempts, especially with in the borders of the United States and it interest. I would bet there will be unrest in Pakistan, both from the terror network and others seeking to gain political power.
What is to be seen is will the American people allow US forces to continue the war in Afganistan with Osama gone.

His Totally Awesomeness
I think that, as an American, while I wish for the best possible outcome, which is to end the wars, I doubt this will happen. It's kind of funny... we're so embroiled in this now that it would all fall apart if we so did. Still, this is typical America, to try to fight an idealogical war with guns and bombs.

I think that, honestly, nothing can be done to avoid a civil war in Pakistan that seems to be boiling, or keeping Afghanistan a nation free from the Taliban. Even Obama mentioned that we're still after the Taliban for somewhat different reasons. So, perhaps the hope that America puts down its guns it a bit far-fetched.
