The December FederalThe United Federation Newspaper Update http://s3.zetaboards.com/The_UF/index/December Election PreviewPresident: So far, Neisse is the only registered candidate. She is running under the Democratic-Republican party ticket and has chosen the current Vice President Blake Hanover as her running mate. Neisse seems very strong going up to this election.
Senate: So far, there are five registered candidates for Senate; four running under the Democratic-Republican banner (Blake Hanover, Dante Tagariello-Hanover, William Hanover, and Michael Martin) and one independent (ACKJVR). We will have to see if more candidates join to determine the favorites, but the D-R members are looking very good as the dominant party in TUF.The Winds of Change Begin to BlowAs most people know the UNP has been in almost total control of The United Federations Senate, and the Presidency. However, during this last term the winds of change began to blow. Regional founder and first President Neisse founded the Democratic Republican Party. At the start of the term the UNP had the Majority control in the Senate. But the top two over all vote recipients where Independents being Neisse and Dante, so on November 5th Neisse created the new Democratic Republican Party. Dante joined the same day and just like that the group had the minority control. Then on November the 26th Senator Blake Hanover joined the party giving them the new Majority control over the Senate.
After Senator Daniel Anumia-Grey Resigned to become the Second Chief Justice a spot was open in the Senate, and former Senator William Hanover was elected on the DR ticket giving the party a Super Majority witch has already proven productive as the party stood together to pass a vetoed version of the UK treaty.
With Elections coming up in about a week the DR party is beginning to make its nomination process to try and keep its majority in the Senate. We will have to wait and see, but never the less this party has risen to power quickly and has the leadership to move the region forward.New Nations Join, Old Member ReturnAfter a long fall in the nation count, TUF is back on its feet, having gained almost 100 nations in one month. In a recruiting program led by Neisse, a select few recruit privately, instead of public recruiting. This system is working wonders, and new members are joining the forum as well. In December alone, there have been 35 different citizenship applications. We also welcome the return of many old members, including Scott Hanover, Grant Davis, Lexi Anumia, Sdaohr, Troy Hanover, and Robert Vanquest. TUF is looking upwards.
A New Chief in the Courts!Following the Resignation of Chief Justice Blake Hanover in October, the Supreme Court was left vacant. But on November 25th President IG nominated Daniel Anumia-Grey to be the second Chief Justice of the United Federation. After a short questioning process where Chief Grey told of his judicial experience he was confirmed with complete Senate support on November 30th. In his short month on the bench he has already presided over a court case and shows great promise. We all wait to see how the Anumia-Grey Courts future will be, but we all agree that it shows great promise.
First Court Case AdjournsTUF's first court case has finished. Dante Tagariello-Hanover, a senator and Secretary of the Interior, brought charges against the President of TUF Indian Gangs for deleting his posts in a thread started by Leonardo, an ambassador from NB. Dante claimed that Indian Gangs broke Section 2.6 of TUF's Criminal Code in doing so, a charge that Indian Gangs pleaded not guilty to. In his ruling, Chief Justice Daniel Anumia-Grey reasoned that the law required an intent to lose information from the defendant in order for the defendant to be convicted, and that there was none found. As such, he ruled for Indian Gangs.
A Tale of Two TreatiesTUF has recently entered into a treaty with United Kingdom, known as the Treaty of St. Germain. In this treaty, the two regions agree to nonaggression, mutual assistance, and the hosting of interregional events every three weeks. The treaty passed in the TUF Senate 4-0, which overrode President Indian Gangs veto. This is not the only treaty that TUF has been negotiating this month however. TUF is also negotiating a treaty with United Kingdom of Great Britain and Eire. This treaty involves the same terms as the Treaty of St. Germain, and it has passed the TUF Senate 4-0. Speaker of the Senate Neisse had this to say about the treaty. “This is a great opportunity to develop new relationships and cooperation with our two regions.” We look forward to increased cooperation between TUF and these regions.
RP TimeTUF has recently experienced a resurgence in Roleplaying. The World RP, originally led by Patrival, is now led by Cameron Hanover. Currently, scientists from The Oriole Union have made breakthroughs on robot technology. And Gelso's spaceship was recently shot down by Oldsmobile Zeon's missiles. The World RP is also the basis for IC RPing on the regional chat room, where members do first-person roleplaying, sometimes controlling multiple characters at once. However, this is not the only RP available to citizens. Cameron Hanover, Lawrence Stanfield-Hanover, and Dante Tagariello-Hanover also run the Zombie Apocalypse RP. The Zombie Apocalypse RP is a first-person RP based on, naturally, the undead coming back to life in an apocalyptic world. Both of these RPs provide great opportunities for TUF citizens.
