Stevey J suspended for nothing as well. Agree with you FG, needed to be 4 weeks minimum for a cowardly king hit. Hope the AFL comes over the top, because that looks as bad for the game as anything else that has happened this year.

this is what happens when they try to run by a particular (and flawed) process, rather than using basic common sense

It wasn't a king hit but I find it very strange that the MRP didn't send it straight to the tribunal. If there is ever a case of " the points system doesn't adequately deal with this" then following a player to the interchange zone and elbowing him at the base of the skull, then this was it. Conca was extremely lucky this didn't end badly, we've already had one sportsman end up in a wheelchair for life this year, Conca and has small mans anger could have made it 2. With the way the AFL has supported initiatives not to have people throwing "cowards punches", it send a pretty poor message that chasing a guy and elbowing him in the back of the head isn't taken more seriously

The only thing that'll make me angrier than the original MRP decision would be them waiting to see how public opinion shapes before referring it...should have been referred by (Ben Buckley I think his name is) immediately.

Definition of a king hit

"A sucker punch, also known as a king-hit or coward-punch, is a punch made without warning, allowing no time for preparation or defence on the part of the recipient. The term is generally reserved for situations where the way in which the punch has been delivered is considered unfair or unethical. In practice, this often includes punches delivered from close-range or behind."

Sounds like a pretty perfect description of what Conca did to me.

Merrett maybe could've gone, but they do owe us a couple from some soft decisions earlier in the year, and he did kinda get the ball. It was nothing more than clumsy and you can't really rub people out for being spastics - unless, of course, you're OK with Richmond and Port only being able to field half a dozen players each (at best) every week.

On the plus side, if they merged they could face Carlton in weekly 12 v 12 contests.
