There was a Prelim on just then. Hawthorn won by 3 points.

Hawthorn got to nearly 5 goals up and put the cue in the rack....Port weren't done yet though, and kicked the last 4 goals of the game, and were pressing for the win but Luke Hodge made a big tackle and should have got a free kick for getting tackled without the ball. The ump didn't pay it, but then paid a holding the ball decision against Port which wasn't there (so all square really)....so yeah....game over...

what rot!!!!!!!!! to be so brave and come so close and be denied one last scoring chance due to a ridiculous call is a disgrace

in the context of the game those kind of frees must be let go...players are going in for their lives, jumping, bumping, bruising, crunching...how can you claim Tom Jonas dived on the ball at a moment like that!!!

all i can say is no bitterness, but Sydney will easily account for these shaky, wobbly pretenders!

I agree sort of FG....as I said before, Hodge should have received a free kick about 2 seconds before that, so it didn't change the result if the correct decisions had been made in that 5 second period....

even still, a holding the ball in the final second couldve been paid if they were consistent...although im not sure Monfries had the distance, wouldve been 50/50

still game wise what can i say? it was a gallant effort! once again when all hope was lost this group of men pulled through and produced some amazing footy...but where was that in the crucial 2nd and 3rd quarters? we will not win a premiership until we learn to improve on these lapses, even if that means our hot moments are minimed

consistent 4 quarter football is the key, which is why the Swans are the go next week

Travis Boak was great as usual, led by example as the captain, as did Robbie Gray

Angus Monfries was huge tonight, kicked the crucial goals in the final quarter that got us within a goal, Schulz, Westhoff and Wingard didnt have it all their own way in the forward but were quite handy up the field in moments

Lobbe was solid in the ruck and Carlile did what he had to do down back...no one couldve stopped Roughead today, he was a machine

so halfway through the year it may have looked quite likely that Port would make a prelim, but after a late lapse it was an impressive effort to make it this far, onwards and upwards to next year, hopefully the improvement continues!

the highlight of my day was talking to Brent Stanton and David Zaharakis at the NFL Div 1 GF where Greensborough defeated Heidelberg

Stantons brother Luke was forward for Greensborough, and Zaharakis had a few mates playing

Did you ask Brent how he was going to spend his year off next year?
