Brisbane leading late in the first, 16 to 9, and not playing horribly, except in front of goal. Good to see Merrett down back, where he's less of a spastic. The Lions might've found one in this Dayne Beams kid. |

McStay just kicked his second booming goal from distance on the wrong side for a lefty, to show that he should be developed as a forward. Midge Taylor is in everything, justifying my man crush. In Sydney news, Sam Reid is still a spud, but has at least has the decency to injure himself, so as to not disadvantage the team. |

Brisbane lead by 21 at half time, 6.7.43 to 3.4.22. The scoreboard is pretty indicative of how the game has been played. The Lions actually look like they know what they're trying to do; it's freaking me out. Jack Hiscox is a great name and I don't foresee a time when I won't giggle when I hear it. |

You are the team I've picked to make the big leap this year, injuries, bad umpiring and tsunamis aside. |

Na, still too much uncertainty over where the goals will come from, for mine. Maybe ten wins and a better percentage, for mine. Potentially think about finals next year. |

Sydney looked much more fluid with the ball in that quarter, but for all their effort, they only closed the margin by one. Brisbane by 20 at the last break, 0.8.10.58 to 1.4.5.38. Brisbane look quick when they have possession, which is nice. If they can do that consistently, it'll be the first time since I don't even remember when. We've been plodders with the ball for years. The defensive side of things looks OK too. Good pressure has led to repeat forward 50 entries on more than one occasion. We're still susceptible to a fast break, but like I mentioned before, everyone seems to know what they need to do, so the last kick into 50 is pressured more often than not. It's pleasing. |

I'm liking Brisbane's tackling intensity. It's almost like Leppitsch has said the best tackler can go Margot Robbie bareback. |

Brisbane win by 36 after being the better team all night, 0.10.15.75 to 1.4.6.39. Only preseason, so everything is to be taken with a grain of salt, but I liked some of the signs. Edited by scrote, 6 Mar 2015, 08:22 PM.
