That'd be a mistake, the talent is there they just need patience. You're in this position because you tried a short term fix 5 years back. You can't short cut to success anymore, they just need a couple of years.

McStay looks a good player but just can't do it all game, Close has talent, Gardnier has talent, Andrews needs a long time but there is enough there to work with and Freeman showed a bit last year too. Just have to back them in for a few years

Cheers.

The forward line is obviously an issue. There are plenty of options to play down there, as far as talls go, but the age profile is all out of wack, in that they're mostly 19, 20, 21 year old kids that just aren't physically ready or capable of being 'the guy' in the forward fifty.

I saw a very, very vague and largely rubbish article yesterday that we might be going for Vickery, Henderson, and big Charlie Dixon.

Absolute spud; best football would come at CHB; I'm a fan, if he can ever sort his body out.
I will piss my pants laughing if you guys trade for Vickery. Him and lil' bitch Mitch in the side

Down back we're fine. Clarke is a pretty good defender for someone so young. I'm a big fan of his work. Gardiner is an old fashioned scrapper and will only get better in the one on ones as he gets older. McStay will ultimately settle down there too, I reckon, playing third tall, drifting across packs and either marking it or killing it. I have no issues with our key defence stocks moving forward.

I wanted to see Andrews last night, but it wasn't to be. Playing back up ruck as a teenage stick says he must have a bit of something though. Freeman I like from what I saw last year. Will be handy to hopefully get him back in the second half of the year. Good set shot, too. Close having 12 months off might be something of a blessing in disguise - give him time to work on upper body strength, because he still gets pushed around far too much, even factoring in age and inexperience.

The idea of Dixon just appeals right now, because he's what we're trying to force/morph one of Martin and Berger into - a big, strong presence in the forward line that can provide decent relief ruck minutes. If that's a role we want to run with going forward, he's not a bad option to full it - especially if Bergs leaves as a free agent.

Dixon will be a good get, getting Vickery would be a disaster, he isn't up to it and he is one of mine. Henderson just screams of trying to undo an old error rather than building something new

I thought you were saying the idea of getting any of the three would be terrible. I've always liked big Charlie.

Vickery would be an awful idea for any one of the 4000 obvious reasons, and as I said earlier, I don't see the point to Henderson, but for different reasons to you.

I'll play the waiting game for now, because I don't really have much of a choice, but gee it sucks.

I can feel you. Last night was regulation for us but after the last 20 years of supporting Richmond getting a regulation win with little fuss was a rare treat
