Name: Alexandre Felipe Bosque Cabral de Ataíde Bettencourt Gender: Male Age: 17 Hometown: Brooklyn, NY Hobbies and Interests: Capoeira, girls, card games, magic, juggling and other assorted circus tricks, video games Appearance: Alexandre stands 5' 7" - squarely average in his parents' home country of Brazil, but a bit short by American standards, and weighs 125 pounds. Though he does have a bit of muscle on him, particularly on his legs, he appears skinny and wiry to most. His skin is olive in color and he tans very easily- he is quite dark during the summer and rather light during the winter months. He often seems taller than he is because his legs are quite long for his height, and he never seems to stop moving. Alexandre has heavy-lidded chestnut eyes and scruffy, wavy black hair. Though a shorter style would better suit his activity level- his hair occasionally gets in his eyes and distracts him when he's fighting or performing- he insists on keeping his current style simply because he thinks it looks better. His nose is average-sized and upturned, and his smile is wide and very white. He grins often. Alexandre usually dresses simply- he wears t-shirts or wifebeaters when he bothers to wear a shirt at all, paired with cargo shorts. During the summer he almost never wears a shirt, and during the winter he tries to stay indoors as much as possible, as long sleeves and pants make him noticeably uncomfortable. He goes barefoot whenever possible, resulting in a pair of very callused feet, and he only wears sandals when he absolutely has to. He hates formal wear with a passion. No matter what the occasion or outfit, he always wears his blue capoeira corda. Biography: Fernando Felipe Branco de Ataíde Paixão Bettencourt and Camila Débora Moreira Bosque Lima Cabral- Alexandre's parents- met and fell in love by a happy coincidence. The pair, both originally from Brazil, both attended the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Camila studying interior design and Fernando studying law. They shared classes but were never close until one day both chose to take the same trip abroad to New York City, for very different reasons. They both fell in love with the city, and somewhere along the way, with each other. They finished off their studies back in Brazil, and got married soon after graduation, moving to New York to start a family. It was rough going at first, but the new couple found that surviving in the city wasn't too hard. Fernando joined a law firm and Camila went to work at first as his secretary, and as their English was quite good and both were charming and capable, they did quite well. As Fernando gained prestige and Camila left the firm to work as an interior designer, the couple decided they were stable enough to have their first and only child, Alexandre. Alexandre spent much of his early years at work with either of his parents, as neither liked to leave him with a babysitter but neither spent much time at home. He was an inquisitive little boy, asking a lot of questions and trying to get into things constantly, and he spent more time with Fernando than Camila as his job required less movement. Though he's always loved both of his parents very much, he has always been closer to Fernando, particularly with regards to their shared passion, capoeira. Fernando has been a capoeirista since he was ten years old, and in the beginning he was taught by his father, a capoeira mestre or master, though he soon graduated to playing capoeira with other kids in his neighborhood. He received the capoeirista nickname of Precoce, meaning precocious, and is called that by others in the art's community to this day. Unlike most of the other kids, however, he stuck to it, and by the time Alexandre was born he had attained the rank of contra-mestre (one rank below mestre) and taught a capoeira class twice a week in the neighborhood during the little free time he had. He always brought Alexandre to these classes, and though Alexandre loved to watch the youth class and couldn't wait until he was old enough to join them, he was absolutely mesmerized by the talented men and women in the adult class. He knew that he wanted to be as good as them one day. Alexandre joined his father's youth class at age 9- he was a stubborn boy and refused to wait until he turned 10- and also received additional instruction from his father nearly every night. He loved to show off to the adult class, as he still continued to go to them with his father. Though at first he went by Precoce Júnior, as his father's son, it was one of his father's aged students who gave him the capoeira nickname he uses to this day- Raposa, or "fox". Alexandre was and is unusually fast and wily, an exceptional trickster in a field where being a trickster is expected. Capoeira remains to this day his biggest passion, and he recently rose to the rank of "graduated", earning his blue corda. Beyond capoeira, life went on, and Alexandre grew up. He went from a curious, stubborn and clever young boy to a cocky and self-assured young man, though he never really grew out of those childhood traits of his. However, an issue from his youth only grew worse as he grew older- a problem with telling the truth. Alexandre lies constantly and often for no reason but to see if he can get away with it, and he almost always does, as he is nearly impossible to detect or catch. This issue becomes an asset when extended to his movements, and serves him quite well in capoeira, where he can easily dupe an opponent as to what his next move will be. Alexandre found a love for women relatively early in life, with his first girlfriend at age ten (though admittedly they did nothing but hold hands). He has had a pretty much non-stop string of girlfriends since, and in general he treats them very well, though he has a bad habit of flitting from one to the next like a butterfly to flowers. Several of his other hobbies were actually picked up as ways to impress girls. Magic in particular became an interest of his when one of his girlfriends told him how sexy she found magicians, and he found that his dexterity and wilyness were well-suited to the task. His fondness for circus tricks came from a very similar place- the desire to impress girls, and in fact people in general, a desire that was clearly present even in his childhood. Alexandre loves being the center of attention, no matter what. His love of playing cards, on the other hand, came from a very different place- Alexandre loves being better than people and loves to show off and prove that he is. He began playing cards as a way to make a bit of extra spending money, but he quickly learned exactly how much he hates losing, and started doing whatever he could do to win- learning to read faces, counting cards, and sometimes just plain cheating. Even his friends tend to not trust him, as he is an extraordinarily good liar, while playing cards and otherwise. Alexandre is a popular kid, being good-looking, talented and a very smooth talker. He loves attention and needs to be the center of everyone's universe in order to really be happy, and he has a lot of acquaintances but almost no really close friends, as his lies approach compulsive in their constancy and it is incredibly difficult to get through them to see Alexandre as a person. He loves his parents, he loves girls, but above all he loves himself, and is on a constant quest to improve himself, particularly in capoeira. When he has the rare moment to relax, though, he will kick back with a video game, often playing with his father, with whom he is still very close. Only his capoeirista friends call him Raposa- everyone else calls him Alexandre, though he lets the girls he dates call him Alex. In combat, he is fast and tricky, and has some experience fighting with light weaponry (though only in practice, naturally). He is strong, but not particularly so, and he cannot take a hit for the life of him. STATS Strength: 4 Skill: 7 Stamina: 1 Speed: 8 --- DESIGNATED PGRY (Gray Player) Designated Weapon: SOTF:Arena T-Shirt Conclusions: He could've been a real contender if he hadn't gotten stuck with a joke weapon. I still wouldn't count him out completely, though, he could still pull something from up his sleeve, so to speak. Edited by whisperinwater, Jul 30 2011, 10:52 AM.
