Check out this article! Its nothing short of amazing! The Croc Whisperer Its no secret I was raised in a traditional Lakhota environment, so of course, like a good indian, I got a story. LOL Long ago, humans and animals all spoke the same language. We were all related. Then humans got proud and thought they were better than their animal brother and sisters. The animals turned away and stopped talking to the humans. This made the humans angry and they began to hate the animals and see them as less worthy. Because the humans had such a dark cold heart, this made the animals scared so not only wouldn't they talk to them, they ran away from them. Sometimes we hear of a man having an encounter with a wild animal and that the animal tried to kill the man! I say this isn't so! The animal is facing his enemy that once was his brother. He wants to know, "Brother, why would you think you are better than us!" Humans, being self centered, think this is an invitation to fight, because remember, humans think they are better. Long ago, man would have heard his brother's question, now they just hear growls and roars. The way of the Lakhota is a way of love and equalness. Listen to your brothers and sister and they will respect you and speak to you. Just like this man. He knows his brother's power and respects it. The croc knows his brother's kindness and respects it, also. The animals have not shut us off completely. Only most of us. Listen with an open heart and understand. For just a little while, forget the complicated world of IPods and computers and fax machines and just listen to the earth and all her relations. Mitakuye' O'yasin! |
