The Vigilante is the most valuable role the village can have. The reason for this is that, with enough skill and a little luck, it can kill a Mafia every single night. The purpose of this guide is to help you reach that level. I know what you're thinking. "Why should I listen to this scrub? He only has 500 posts!" Well, I say we shouldn't just look at the numbers. Instead, look at the numbers: Games I've played as Vig: 2 Games I've won as Vig: 2 Games I've lost as Vig: 0 See? I'm undefeated! Every time I'm Vig, the village wins. With this proof, I'm sure you can trust my knowledge. Let's get started. So u wanna be a vig This guide will explain the following: -How does the Vigilante work? -When should the Vigilante kill? -Who should the Vigilante kill? -How should a Vigilante act while leading? How does the Vigilante work? The Vig serves two main purposes: First of all, it kills anything that isn't village sided. Second, it makes a good leader when there isn't a better option, which is never, since the Vig is the ultimate role. When should the Vigilante kill? Naturally, to maximize your chances of killing Mafia, you should ideally be killing every night. As is said in the ancient proverbs, "You miss every shot you don't take." And, of course, so long as you don't hit Village when you kill, you hit Mafia! If you chicken out of killing, you're basically giving Mafia free nights to kill more Villagers! And you don't want your friends to call you chicken, do you? Of course, there is an exception. You could try not killing on purpose to make the Mafia think you're an inactive player. Since it's common knowledge that if there is a Vig, there should be two kills every night, it could make the Mafia fall for it and start targeting inactives. Which is good, because the Vig dying is essentially game over for Village. However, this tactic makes the game slower and gives the Mafia more nights where they might happen to kill you. And obviously, this strategy shouldn't be used if you have a history of inactivity. Who should the Vigilante kill? This is the tricky part. When it doesn't seem obvious to you who's Mafia, don't immediately lose hope. Instead, target players who would be a threat to the Village if they were Mafia. Others might argue that doing this is harmful to the Village because you could be killing some of the smartest Villagers, but in reality, they're not of much help when the Village has a Vig on their side anyway. If anyone tells you to stop killing indiscriminately, they should be your next target. Mafia like to ensure their safety, and stopping the Vig from killing is a smart tactic that you need to be able to spot when it happens. How should a Vigilante act when leading? Often times, the Vig ends up being a very helpful leader, because the Vig is the best role of all. In order to prove that you're actually the Vig, start by announcing the day before that you're going to kill a certain player, and then follow through with it. Then they have no reason not to believe you, right? In the case of someone CCing a role, always kill the one who claims last of the two. It was most likely that the Mafia had to think longer about whether to CC the role or not, so it's natural that they would take longer to claim. Don't start a lynch on them either, or they might be able to talk their way out of being lynched. Conclusion By now, you know everything there is to know when it comes to playing as a Vig. This is the part where I would remind you that this strategy doesn't always work, but it does. Now, go out there and carry the village to success! Edited by Zaazaa0, Sep 16 2014, 03:42 PM.

you forgot to mention that if you don't target a village sided player, you're guaranteed to hit mafia, making you win the game |

Nobody: Yes. Killing on N1, as always, gives you more chances to hit Mafia. I didn't mention it because I figured it was common sense. Letter: Oh, of course. I'll point that out in the guide. |

K, but what about village PRs like the doc? Doesn't shooting N1 also give you a chance to hit them? |

Honestly, when the Vig is in the game, the Doc is a liability. I mean, if he's trying to protect you but accidentally makes a typo and protects your target instead, then he could waste your kill! And you don't want that. As for other PRs, the chance is small enough that it doesn't really matter, and the Vig is all you need anyway. |

If you're Mafia, your only hope is to hit Vig N1. Otherwise, you lose. Of course, that's assuming the Vig isn't being stupid and refusing to kill every night. |

I know for a fact that you didn't kill every night in that game. Your win would have been far quicker had you followed my tips more thoroughly. Honestly, I expected you admins to be better at mafia. |

I wanted to give the mafia a fair chance. It's rude to make it impossible to win, after all. |

While I appreciate the sentiment, that was actually kind of rude to begin with. The fact that you even gave mafia hopes that they stood a chance seems very mean-spirited. |

Assuming you're not Mafia, the best way would be to not say anything scummy. You don't want the Vig thinking you're Mafia, so don't let him decide to kill you. Instead, send the Vig PMs about who you think is scummy. Make sure you're right though, because anyone giving false information tends to look scummier. |

You better listen to him Dax, Letter is an expert on this subject. Anyway, a question Mr. Zaazaa, what about 3rd party roles? If there is cult, should I shoot cult or mafia? If there is a creepy girl, should I not shoot in case they have a doll? Wat do? |

You shoot cult leader or creepy girl night 1. Then you take the lead and lynch the mafia. |

Exactly. If a third party can neglect your win, get rid of them. |
