I have the solution. This whole time, we've been encouraging activity. The start of each game has some great discussion. But the end of the game has no discussion. Why? The mafia kill the talkative players. Thus the village spirals into saying nothing. Then the mafia win. So we encourage more activity. Is that really the best we can do? Gimmick Roles Thoughts? I want to make sure this game is as close to perfect as possible before going through with it. |

The concept reminded me of my game a while back. http://s4.zetaboards.com/Scumhunt/topic/9552906/ Might be worth a look. I think a strategy came up I didn't expect, so. (I have a no evaluation on mobile devices policy, so.) Though, looking at it real quick, I see two potential issues. One, a dead player may not wish to be engaged any further, in which case their second death for inactivity is awkward, as inactive kills are a warnable offence. Two, there isn't any way to enforce the receive PMs clause. I trust the dead players on an honour system, but it'd be trickier to expect every player to remember don't PM that person they're dead now. Edited by Aviana, Nov 4 2014, 01:24 PM.

[3:17:34 PM] Letter: the only issue i see from this is [3:17:48 PM] DannyTurtle: That doesn't even make sense. [3:17:52 PM] Letter: like [3:18:05 PM] Letter: all this does is keep the active players active even after death [3:18:15 PM] Zaazaa0: but heres the thing [3:18:23 PM] PSN Strykr: i agree with letter [3:18:23 PM] Zaazaa0: the active people talk on d1 right [3:18:29 PM] PSN Strykr: like [3:18:33 PM] Zaazaa0: then the other people are able to have things to say [3:18:34 PM] PSN Strykr: it literally just leads to even more bandwagoning [3:18:48 PM] DannyTurtle: Uh huh. [3:18:56 PM] Letter: yes it’s no reveal, but all people need to do is go “oh, letter died and he’s making the best arguements let me just agree with him” [3:19:06 PM] PSN Strykr: "okay jessi is dead but she can still post and she thinks X is mafia lets just vote that person" [3:19:19 PM] Letter: plus mafia can’t kill power players anymore really [3:19:44 PM] Letter: you kill people like jessi, blood, and me so that they can’t help the village anymore [3:20:10 PM] Letter: if they can still help the village after death, and it’s no reveal, who are you supposed to target [3:20:13 PM] PSN Strykr: >implying that the reason you get killed isn't to stop your shitposting [3:20:18 PM] DannyTurtle: hue [3:20:29 PM] Letter: my shitposts help the village a lot [3:20:35 PM] DannyTurtle: That's actually the reason I use when I'm mafia. [3:20:37 PM] DannyTurtle: Read: never [3:22:18 PM] Zaazaa0: [3:18 PM] Letter: <<< you kill people like jessi, blood, and me so that they can’t help the village anymore Such people can also be a giant help to the mafia. And in a no reveal, you can't confirm they were tricking you. [3:22:21 PM] Zaazaa0: That and yak. [3:22:42 PM] Letter: wait you know what this means [3:22:45 PM] Letter: IF I DIE [3:22:50 PM] Letter: MY SHITPOSTING DOESN’T DIE WITH ME [3:22:54 PM] PSN Strykr: but zaazaa [3:22:55 PM] DannyTurtle: This is a terrible game don't run it. [3:22:59 PM] PSN Strykr: if someone dies at the night in no reveal [3:22:59 PM] MisKT: letter is on the banlist [3:23:00 PM] PSN Strykr: you know they're village [3:23:10 PM] PSN Strykr: so you'll basically have like [3:23:12 PM] DannyTurtle: You can kill mafia. [3:23:14 PM] Letter: i can’t believe the yakuza is village [3:23:17 PM] Zaazaa0: yak [3:23:17 PM] PSN Strykr: five confirmed clears telling you what to do [3:23:34 PM] PSN Strykr: oh okay so one night in the game you won't have a confirmed clear made [3:23:47 PM] Letter: add in a vig instead of a judge problem solved [3:23:48 PM] Zaazaa0: hmm [3:23:51 PM] MisKT: you don't know which night though [3:23:55 PM] Zaazaa0: but see the thing about vig [3:24:01 PM] DannyTurtle: Two players will die one night. [3:24:03 PM] Letter: oh right vig is autowin for the village [3:24:03 PM] MisKT: oh [3:24:12 PM] Zaazaa0: if say mortician claims and gets tracker and vig in contact [3:24:17 PM] Zaazaa0: they dont need to discuss [3:24:25 PM] Letter: why would mortician claim [3:24:30 PM] Letter: what a shitty scenario [3:24:33 PM] Zaazaa0: to get tracker and vig in contact [3:24:41 PM] Letter: and there’s no protection [3:25:00 PM] Letter: why would they basically have the most important role claim [3:25:12 PM] Letter: zaazaa confirmed for worst village leader just posting the log so you can look over it for ideas |

I'll just copy in my contribution as well. As soon as someone dies at night and Mortician can clear their body, they're clear for the rest of the game. The yak is the only reason that anyone who dies at night isn't automatically cleared, and there's only one of them. Conversely, as soon as someone gets confirmed as mafia, there's no reason for them to ever say anything for the rest of the game because they'll just get ignored. |

I can't believe it's impossible to CC the mortician. But yeah though this game does need some fine tuning. Letter mentioned Vig, but I don't really think that'll be too great, because if the vig says who they killed then village knows which of the kills each night they can trust. Or the vig can just choose not to kill. I think the problem is that roles that can kill mafia are generally either not very good or too good. Unless I can come up with a solution to this I probably just won't host this. |

Got it! Deadpost by A. Nonymous. I think that like resolves all the problems. It'd also shake the dust off A. And the thing Jessi mentioned about dead inactivity makes sense and now there's even less reason to do that. |

That doesn't solve any problems. You would just flat out ignore anything said by them because they could be mafia so it adds literally nothing to the game. It's just a way to allow the dead to deadpost without breaking rules. |

When I'm scumhunting I never listen to the ideas of anyone because they might be mafia. Besides, this shifts the focus back to the living, with the dead being an unreliable support discussion, which was the purpose of the game in the first place. |

Eh. It makes it so you can't really clear anyone, but it also makes it so you can't really do anything with the dead people's contributions. If someone DOES get cleared, the dead mafia will just impersonate that person and they won't be able to effectively help. And you can't discredit someone or work out who's helpful and who's not because you can't really know who's saying what. So pretty much, yeah, it ends up with people just ignoring the anon posts because you can't really DO anything with them.

Who says you have to claim to be a person? If you are dead and can find solid scumhunting material, you can post your ideas so village can look at it. |

Part of the process of scumhunting is figuring out who's helpful and who's full of shit. If you can't trace a post back to someone, you can't really determine whether or not to trust them or ignore them. As such, the safest way to go about it is to disregard what they say. |

That's what I've been saying. Decide whether you can trust the information, rather than the person themselves. |

If you're good you can make anybody look scummy. You can't trust the information because it could be the mafia saying it. It's that simple. If I die and I'm confirmed mafia do you listen to anything I said even if it makes sense? No. You don't. Unless you're dumb. |

Even if you decide not to listen to dead people once a maf is dead, it still would make a difference early-game. Day 1, there's only be one dead villager, likely, so they could help that phase. Even Day 2, if you don't hit maf D1. |
