Free for alls are tricky to make huh... please note all of the below is subject to change as the game build progresses.
So here's the basic premise for this game:
-Everyone has a unique role, which gives them powers specific to the role -Each role has the possibility to win with one of two other roles -These roles do not overlap, so there is no possibility of a three way win (barring interference from particular roles) -The last ones standing win - either one player alone, or two players who are able to joint win (exceptions may appear depending on roles) -Unless noted, other rules stay the same - no metagaming, lynches are voted for in the day and go through with majorities, activity is good, etc
Kill Mechanics
Someone will die every night, but this will not be by the hands of one player, or by a mafia. Instead, the system is as follows. During the day phase, players will PM me one of four rooms to hide in. Up to five players can hide in a room; if more than five players try to go into one room, a random player will be moved into another room. The room with the most players then has a vote during the night phase as to who in the room should die. (The players in this room are told who else is there.) The player with the most votes at the end of the night will be the one to die. (Please note no majority is required - if one player has two votes, and three others have one vote, the player with two votes will die.) If there are multiple players that have the highest vote count, the dead will be randomly selected among the players.
As the game progresses, accidents will happen to collapse certain rooms, so as to continue to have several players in one room. The game starts with fifteen players among four rooms - once the player count is ten, a room will collapse and only three rooms will be available, and so on.
Forbidden Actions
Each role will have a secret forbidden action tied to it. These actions may include things like posting restrictions, not being able to go to a certain room, or not being able to use powers on certain players. You are at liberty to discuss your forbidden action as you see fit, unless the action itself forbids you to do so. RNG will never trigger your forbidden action. Example: Player A tries to go to a room that is overcrowded, and they are forbidden to go to a particular different room. They will never be randomly selected to go to the forbidden room instead, though they may be randomly selected to go to a different non-forbidden room.
List of potential forbidden actions - this link should not be accessible by anyone, but is here for me to keep track of ideas.
Roles
The powers for each role are still in production, but aim to have two powers each: a once per phase (day or night as appropriate) ability, and a once per game ability. Most of these have not been determined and I would love suggestions. Possibilities could include various EM roles, vote manipulation, redirecting, or other such.
Fifteen roles this detailed is a lot Naegi Makoto: Can win with Kirigiri Kyoko or Asahina Aoi.- Once per phase: Can motivate a player to use their once per phase action on two targets. If used on Ruruka, she still can only affect a player once with each power.
- Once per game: Can select an additional player to win with. Learns their role in doing so. The player selected is notified that they can win with Naegi Makoto, but not who Naegi is. If the player selected has a role that can win with Kirigiri or Asahina, a three way win is possible, otherwise, Naegi simply has an additional option.
Kirigiri Kyoko: Can win with Naegi Makoto or Kizakura Koichi.- Once per phase:
- Once per game:
Asahina Aoi: Can win with Naegi Makoto or Gekkogahara Miaya.- Once per phase: Can move one player to a room of her choice. If this room is already full, someone already in the room, selected randomly, goes elsewhere.
- Once per game:
Tengan Kazuo: Can win with Mitarai Ryota or Bandai Daisaku.- Once per phase:
- Once per game:
Munakata Kyosuke: Can win with Yukizome Chisa or Sakakura Juzo.- Once per phase: Can switch two players. Any visitors to one player will visit the other, and vice versa. This selection is made on a night phase and lasts into the following day phase.
- Once per game:
Kizakura Koichi: Can win with Kirigiri Kyoko or Mitarai Ryota.- Once per phase: Can choose to use a player's once per phase ability on a separate target. This selection is made during the night phase. If the chosen player's ability is a day action, it will be used at the beginning of the day phase. Kizakura can only select each player's ability to use twice.
- Once per game:
Kimura Seiko: Can win with Yukizome Chisa or Izayoi Sonosuke.- Once per phase: During the night, she can select a player. If they would be harmed by their forbidden action during the next day or night phase, she administers an antidote, saving them from death. This protection does not carry into the night phase if she is lynched.
- Once per game: She can give one person in the game (including herself as an option) a berserker formula, giving them the ability to select one player a night to die. This kill ignores the room system, and the player who received the formula may select anyone in the game regardless of the rooms they hid in. If the player who received the formula does not choose someone, someone will randomly be selected instead. Seiko can administer this formula during either the day or night phase, and the kills begin on the next phase. They will repeat on whatever phase they began on (if Seiko administers the formula at night, they will be day kills, and vice versa).
Yukizome Chisa: Can win with Munakata Kyosuke or Kimura Seiko.- Once per phase: Can select a player during the day phase. That player will have their vote doubled for the lynch, or for the room vote in the following phase if applicable.
- Once per game: Chisa may select either Kyosuke or Seiko. For the following day and night (or night and day), if her selection would normally die in any way, Chisa will die for them instead. She will still win if the person she protected wins, and this would allow a potential three way win as the protected player may still joint win with their living option.
Sakakura Juzo: Can win with Munakata Kyosuke or Ando Ruruka.- Once per phase: Can select a player during the night phase. That player will not be able to vote on the room kill, if applicable, or in lynches the following day phase.
- Once per game: Something something cut hand off die in two (or more???) cycles but immune to all other kills and can protect someone in the room with them. Can still win after death if either Kyosuke or Ruruka win, allowing a potential three way win.
Gekkogahara Miaya: Can win with Asahina Aoi or the Great Gozu.- Once per phase: The robot posing as Miaya has brought a stellar array of weapons, and can pass bombs along to other players. It sets a timer on the bomb for a certain number of turns, on dispensing it to another player at night. The bomb will then explode either after it has been passed the appropriate number of turns, or when the day phase ends. It kills anyone besides Miaya, who does not have the same vulnerabilities to bombs as the other players.
- Once per game: Miaya can choose at any point in the game to engage her full-combat mode. This gives Miaya three additional powers to choose from, all at night: targeting a player directly for a kill, trapping a particular room and killing a person who visits the room, or defending herself, and killing the first visitor to approach her. Miaya can only use one of these additional powers per night phase. The detriment to activating this ability is that Miaya can no longer win with any allies. Miaya retains her usual once per phase ability, and only the once per phase ability is considered for her visit.
Ando Ruruka: Can win with Sakakura Juzo or Izayoi Sonosuke.- Once per phase: Ruruka can give one player one of two candies at night to make them prone to suggestion. She will be able to pick, according to her choice, who the player votes for the next day or who they target with their ability that night. The vote will be altered according to Ruruka's will even if she is killed that night. Each candy only works on each player once.
- Once per game: Ruruka can give one player a special candy to ensure their complete loyalty. This candy will result in a passion for Ruruka such that the player will kill themselves in Ruruka's place if she were to die. Ruruka will be in no danger of death should the selected player die, though, as the passion is one-sided. (Consider more specific circumstances to trigger the death, or mitigating factors.)
Izayoi Sonosuke: Can win with Kimura Seiko or Ando Ruruka.- Once per phase: Can pick a player at night, and anyone who visits that player will be killed by a trap.
- Once per game:
Mitarai Ryota: Can win with Tengan Kazuo or Kizakura Koichi.- Once per phase: Can prevent a player from using their once per phase action. Ryota makes this selection during the night phases. Any abilities that night or in the following day, depending on the player's abilities, are stopped accordingly.
- Once per game: Something something brainwashing?
Bandai Daisaku: Can win with Tengan Kazuo or the Great Gozu.- Once per phase:
- Once per game:
The Great Gozu: Can win with Gekkogahara Miaya or Bandai Daisaku.- Once per phase:
- Once per game:
