Ok, you come to the forums, you get a pm, you are now a PR! Good for you! .... Now what? This guide is made for new people who wish to lead. "But hunter, you are a newb too! You only joined four games!" i did join werewolf games, but thats not the point, i wanted a guide that would help everyone. This guide is mainly an incomplete guide. The world changes, and leading also changes. I try to keep track of them here. So, how do you lead? dont panic. Panicing leads to misplays, and tends to fudge stuff up. However, this and werewolf discord games are very different. Panicing there have serious consequences, but here, panicing is not that bad, as long as you have connected prs. The leader has one goal: to connect the village, so that in case they die, its not the end of the world. Unless you know, you are a role where vil loses if you die. dont trust anyone unless there is proof. The mafia are connected. They get to discuss together, cc if they need to, and more. The mafia can spin lies out of nothing. So, don't trust anyone. They are never fully cleared, until an investigative role investigates them. Even then, godfather and miller exist. The best way to get proof they are on the village side is to use your own powers of deduction. For example, if you aren't an investigative role, you can count the no. of villagers in the set up. If the no. Of vil claims you have are more then the amount of actual villagers, then you can assume some of the mafia are there. You can ask your ccs for help. That might sound counterintuitive, but you could probably get the mafia based on their words. If they don't really give help, suspect them, but dont kill them just yet. Wait for their defense, but don't believe yet. If you are cop, you have all the proof you need, you just have to investigate properly. If vig, well, just look at zaazaa's guide. Doc/Nurse? Don't claim, but you can claim to your target if there was no kill, but be sure that mafia is actually active. how to handle ccs Ok, so now we're now gonna go through the meat and potatoes of this topic. It really depends on who we are talking about. There are specific styles people have. One person might claim vil all the time unless they are prs, others might cc as mafia, there is no way that we can account for it all. The best way to handle ccs is to know the player. "Is he a player who usually protects night one? Would he usually investigate a certain person?" Keep asking yourself questions about that. "Why? Would he? Is he?" And most importantly, "is he really what he says it is?" Don't stop asking questions. Its almost like a logic puzzle. "If you have two nurses, and 1 claimed first, but 1 didn't protect n1, but 2 did, but claimed who they protected 20 mins after they claimed, who is the real one?" You have plenty of time to figure this one out, but sometimes it much deeper then what you think it is. But, sometimes you just have to listen to your gut. Its also very likely thst the first nurse was the mafia. But, your gut should be if you truly don't know. tldr: think logically, but listen to your gut. vil claims Ahh, the vil claims. Mafia are very likely to claim these little people. The problem with vil claims is that anyone can claim that. So, if there are no other ccs, then lynch the vil claims that you think is scummy. If you have questions, criticisms, more info that i need to add, type them here. Edit: do not follow these too closely, I don't have a good idea to how some people do their leadership styles, and thats fine. For this guide, i wanted people who have experience help other who don't. I try to help, but I mess up sometimes. Im still a newbie in mafia, but i try to compile all knowledge that everyone wants to know. Edited by HunterX45, Feb 2 2018, 07:54 PM.

umno, because mafia knows the alignments of everyone in the game (barring third parties) so they can just tell you that the person who they investigated is innocent because they know that's accurate and lying gives themselves away in a heartbeat you could do that with a detective CC (cop investigates alignment, detective investigates role) but when you lynch the mafia for giving the wrong report, you're also revealing to the mafia that the person you told them to investigate is a PR and that isnt even getting into games where the mafia has investigation disruption at their disposal in many games the ideal thing to do is to just leave both cops alive for a while and see what reports they give you no, because regardless of whether you tell the real doc or the fake one to protect you, mafia can always pick the safe option of killing an unknown, which is generally smarter than killing the clear while the doc is alive anyway the best way to handle a doc CC in many games is to just tell both of them to protect you forever, and leave both of them alive until there's one mafia left or you're getting desperate for a lynch it even makes the situation where mafia randomly kills the doc into a partially beneficial thing, because they reveal their CC before they even really get to benefit from it no for the same reasons as doc, but also nurse can be cleared the same way as a drunk CC in some games, which is to have a PR visit someone and have one of the nurses hook them and see what happens (though this doesn't work if mafia has a hooker) what the assumption that "the person who claimed last is more likely to be mafia" is hella risky and likely to waste your vig a lot of the time, since the reason for claiming late is more often time zones or people not paying much attention to the game, which says nothing about their alignment one solution to a vig CC that can work in some games is to just tell each of them to kill villager claims every night. mafia can only keep up the ruse by killing villager claims every night, meaning they arent hitting any PRs. and once you happen to tell the mafia to kill a villager claim that is actually a mafia member, suddenly the mafia cant do anything because you cant kill mafia members with the night kill (though in some games you can, in which case mafia is forced to kill one of their own if they want to commit to the CC) at any rate, making a "here's a formulaic way to deal with a CC for any role" is never going to work because every game is different. sometimes you can afford to mislynch the CC'd PR, and sometimes you can't. sometimes you have the roles necessary to limit the inconvenience caused by the CC, and sometimes you don't. note how in all the CC solutions above i said "in many games" or "in some games." that's because in some games you don't have the leniency to do the solutions i proposed, and have to come up with more creative solutions, either making use of the other roles in the game or actually trying to figure out which of the two is the CC by scumhunting them, or whatever. the crux of the issue is that in forum mafia, if you are sifting through claims with ten minutes to spare, you are going to let the game roll into the night phase, giving you another 24 hours to plan actions and 48 hours on top of that to figure out who to lynch. discord werewolf and forum mafia are wildly different things. having 48 hours to make smart decisions leads to a lot more smart decisions rather than solutions that take less time to execute. you can also get a much more organized village, which usually has a private discord server created by the clear for the confirmed village PRs to pool their thoughts, so that there isn't a sole leader making risky decisions to try and immediately resolve CCs that don't need to be immediately resolved. so basically what i'm saying is don't claim to be a skilled village leader in a mafia format that you've never been the village leader in. |
