We need more threads in this board. And seeing as music is right up my alley, I am going to take it upon myself to fill this board with threads about amazing bands. Right, this here, is Porcupine Tree, a british rag-tag group of musicians. Together, they create a mixture of alternative / progressive rock, with some influences of bands such as Tool and Pink Floyd. Overall, they strive to create music that is innovative, usually drastically changing their own sounds every other album. Right now, they have a total of twelve albums, all ranging from neo-progressive metal to semi-pop. Members: Steven Wilson - Guitar, Vocals, Keys Colin Edwin - Bass Richard Barbieri - Keys Gavin Harrison - Drums. Songs: Firstly, this is ''This Is No Rehearsal'', of the ''Stupid Dream'' album. The whole of this record is placed in the pop/rock genre, and therefore, most of the songs are quite mellow. Still, you can easily hear the personal twists the band added. This song is called ''The Sound of Muzak'', which is a part of the ''In Absentia'' album. It is considerably darker and, as evident, the bass plays a much, much large role. I personally love this song to bits. Another beautiful song, called ''Arriving Somewhere But Not Here'', from the ''Deadwing'' album. In total, the song lasts for about 12:03, but believe me. It is well worth the wait. Just kick back and relax, or leave the tab open while doing something else. You won't regret it. Lastly, we have ''Anesthetize'', of the ''Fear of a Blank Planet'' record. Personally, this is a favorite, but seeing as it has an enormous build-up, lasting for at least 4 minutes, it is something you need to reserve some time for. All-in-all, the song lasts 17:49, but again, it is worth every second. I hope some of you can relate to this band as much as I do. If you want to voice your opinion, feel free to leave a comment below! |

Oh hey, I love this band. This is a pretty great song by them. It's considerably softer than their other stuff (but I always tend towards softer stuff, so whatever) but it's a pretty interesting song lyrically and whatnot. I like pretty songs, okay? These two songs do show how varied the band is, though. And the band is so great, you should check them out. |
