Ok, I've been working on this for a while, It would essentially be 3 Factions: NOL, Sector Seven, Bringers of Destruction(Hazama and his cronies), and the Soloists, who each operate independently of a faction. Other than that, this would play out like a normal Factions game, other than the relatively large amount of power roles. The amount was 13 at my last count, but other than that, please comment if you see anything that needs some work, or something that needs help balancing. NOL: Jin Kisaragi:Jin can use his Yukianesa to freeze a single player each night, causing them to be silenced and be unable to perform any actions for the night phase. Noel Vermillion:Noel can, once every two full phases, attempt to kill a player with her Bolverk, day or night. If she uses this ability during the day phase, she will be revealed to the thread. Tsubaki Yayoi:Tsubaki can, once per game, use her Izayoi to steal the light, ending the day phase prematurely and canceling any lynch. Doing so will kill her. Sector Seven: Nu-13:Nu-13 can launch a barrage of swords once each night, wounding a player, who will perish after 3 more phases. Lambda-11:Lambda can use her Dimensional Shift ability to watch over and investigate a player, revealing their role to Sector Seven. Iron Tager:Tager is immensely powerful, and may guard a player each night, protecting them from damage, but if a lethal night action is launched at the protected player, it has a 50% chance of killing Tager. However, if he survives the attack he will respond with lethal force, destroying the attacking player. Bringers of Destruction: Captain Hazama:Hazama can use his powerful Oroboros to slay a player once every 2 phases, whether day or night, however doing so during the day ousts him. Relius Clover:Relius Clover can use his manipulation of puppets to force a player to temporarily follow his commands, rendering them silenced for a turn, except for what Relius chooses to make them say. This only lasts one day phase, and can only be used on the same player once. Ignis Clover:Ignis serves Relius, and will protect him with her life. As long as Ignis survives, Relius is immune to night actions. Phantom:Phantom can use the power of magic once each night to temporarily bind a player, causing them to be unable to perform any night actions. Soloists: Ragna the Bloodedge:Ragna can use his Azure Grimoire/Idea Engine combo to launch a killing blow once full phase, and it can be used during day or night phase. Ragna leave the game a winner when Hazama dies. Launching an attack during day phase will result in his ousting. Carl Clover:Carl's one goal is to find and ascertain the whereabouts of his father, so he may destroy him. He may investigate a player once each night phase, ignoring Ignis' immunity. If he locates Relius, he will slay Relius before leaving the game a winner. If this happens, Ignis will continue to support the Bringers of Destruction, and will instead be bound to Hazama. Hakumen:Hakumen's goal is to find and slay Ragna the Bloodedge, and can slay a player once each full phase, whether day or night. However, If he slays a member of the NOL or Sector Seven by accident, Hakumen will be overcome by remorse and will be unable to speak or perform any actions for two full phases. Eh, I thought that with 2 of the Soloists gunning for 2 of them, I needed a way to balance out the possibility of the Soloists just blasting the Bringers of Destruction to pieces in a single phase... |

Ok, one last call for feedback on this, it there's no complaints/balancing help/suggestions by the time that either Sonic Maf or DN Maf ends, I'll put this up as is for my second job hosting. |

Quick thing to consider, unrelated to the game. Do you have time to host this? You mentioned being less active in a few games recently because of IRL shenanigans. Especially since you have abilities that can occur in the day phase, one that can even end the phase early. I also agree the the Bringers of Destruction seem significantly more powerful than the other factions. I don't know that the third parties make up for it, especially since one of the hunters is also being hunted. I'm not great with balancing faction games, so if anyone else wants to take a whack at this. Also, do factions (with the obvious exclusion of the Soloists) know each other from the start? I wouldn't think they would but I wanted to make sure. Oh yes, there was one thing I did notice that bugged me right off. Iron Tager has the risk factor of a bodyguard - the chance of him dying himself - without the benefit factor - the chance of him killing the attacker. Why is this? Right now he strikes me as sort of bad protection. Edited by Aviana, Apr 13 2012, 10:08 AM.

In order, My IRL shenanigans are almost done, and should be done by the time I mentioned. This is my first time doing factions so I tried to balance it as best as possible, and with no one knowing each other I thought that they weren't as powerful as they seem at first. Also Tager has a chance to kill, but I accidentally left that out... |

In reverse order, see if you can't put that in ASAP, I asked mostly because of Lambda's investigating thing. Can Lambda self investigate so as to find the other Sector 7 members? And I don't know, usually it's decently simple for factions to sort themselves out. I think. Do we have a factions expert somewhere? |

Fixing the typo, and I don't know what you mean by self investigate, so I'm going to assume you mean can she investigate herself to reveal herself to the others... If so, yes she can... And having been in a faction game, I can say that most will be afraid to give themselves away for fear of repraisal by the other two sides, particularly when every role is a power role with something to offer to the team dynamic. |

Don't let her self-investigate, they have a big enough advantage by having the only investigation role in the game, and a really strong one at that. They don't need instant coordination as well. NOL is looking really crappy compared to the other two. The have a sacrificial lynch stopper, which honestly isn't that useful, no investigation powers, and no extra members. They basically have no chance of winning this unless they get completely ignored. |

I'm thinking of adding in another role for them... I'll post it here and get your opinion... Mokoto Nanaya: Using her skill as a member of the Special Task Forces, Mokoto can investigate one player each night, revealing their role to the NOL. Essentially the NOL and Sector Seven can insta-coordinate in order to make up for the BoDs raw power... Edited by KenjiYoi, Apr 13 2012, 06:11 PM.

Raw power does not match the power of insta coordination. Insta coordination on two teams means the third team will be forced to ask about factions and by doing so admit that they're not. Ergo, insta lynch. Or they'll just end up flailing in the dark. Neither scenario works well, it just kills the faction. |

Urgh, factions so hard to balance when you're trying to stay semi-true to the base idea... Mokoto and Lambda will now be unable to self-investigate, which hopefully will balance it enough to be playable, although the role of a Soloist seems hard to win with... |

The faction-informing investigate is incredibly strong. One is fine, two is definitely not. BoD is already more or less balanced out by the Soloists, nobody else should have 4 members. Change Tsubaki's power, it's basically useless. |

Uh, she has to die to stop the lynch. It's pretty useless, because they're losing someone either way. Even if she didn't die, it's not too strong a power without any real way for NOL to organize and no protection. |

Changing her to more of a Hooker type then... Can use her Isayoi to drain a character's night action, which carries through to day phase... |
